Good morning.
The morning after the night before and a job well done. There’s only one piece of footage of highlights of the goals only. It’s shockingly poor and it is here.
I know close to nothing other than the score and that it’s been alleged that a Carlisle fan lost his mind and decided to take on stewards, coppers and anyone else who fancied a piece of him.
Games like this need to be televised. It’s not complicated. The cameras are there, sell a stream for a fiver a pop, cut Carlisle in and everyone’s happy. What was infuriating was that Capital One and talkSPORT announced ‘a partnership’ yesterday afternoon and yet the station chose to cover the game that was on television. The lack of commercial awareness in relation to all this beggars belief.
There is a sniffy attitude about games like this and friendlies that I just don’t understand, I just don’t have any time for. I’m happy to watch our lot train, to be quite honest. Oh well.
And last up, there is a delicious rumour flying around that ***** may be off to Nottingham Forest. Let’s hope we get a grip this time and just let him walk. If they are prepared to re-home him for free, then we’ll have had a touch.
Listened to it on Radio 5 Live, quite enjoy a game via radio commentary these days. Scrappy first half and we were fortunate to go in 1-0 up despite not being threatened much defensively (in act the biggest threat to our clean sheet in the first half seemed to be Daws!). Much improved second half and all round good displays from Vertonghen (again) at left back and Adam Smith at right back. Collective media seem to want to make more of an issue over the non selection of Lloris for a game that he would gain nothing from. Apparently (according to the famous unnamed Spurs source), he’s seeking a third round of showdown talks with AVB, they’ll be sharing an office soon.
Yeah, I saw that rumour also in the ‘Metro’. A comic is ever there was one.
All part of the LES-Daily Mail school of bullshit
The LES and Metro are so popular within the realms of the M25 they give out free copies of both outside the exit/entrances of tube stations.
Why would two magnificent examples of British journalistic integrity be handing out free copies by the lorry load on a daily basis?
‘Toilet Paper-Toilet Paper..Get your free toilet paper’
Ah, those long forgotten street vendors cries
As i’ve mentioned previously on this esteemed blog i have the body of an adonis, a physical specimen of extreme beauty and perfection. If my perfectly formed buttocks were to come into contact with either one of those two rags the poisonous effect on my magnificent skin in such a delicate area would be too horrendous to contemplate.
In short, i wouldn’t wipe my a*se with either!
After the revolution-I’m going to make an MP of my choosing-my official wiper of the Essex arse, As a traditionalist I believe the post of Privvy Councillor, Chamberlain or Master of the Stool should be just that-it’ll be the only paperwork they’ll get to do
Far easier if we asked the authorities in Dumbfuckistan whether they would let us borrow Guantanamo for a while :cop:
Billy-you’re taking all the fun out of my fantasies now-although I do think orange would suit Blair perfectly.
Orange accompanied with concrete footwear :ninja:
A resounding chorus of aye’s.
I’m not a shoemaker but can I make the shoes?
Cobblers

its nice to all sit around the wireless & fire sometimes knitting, toasting crumpets and stuff, just like the old days
I remember a commentator called Phillip Greene many years ago on Irish radio.
He was a Shamrock rovers fan, and was well, ahem, a little bit biased… he once said “the score is 2-2, in favour of Shamrock Rovers”… he was also supposed to have shouted “he’s fcukin’ missed it” in live commentary at a Rovers European Cup match…
Ahhh bless, you see things better on the radio…
yep, before the paid for working streams, there was the radio,i still use the radio a lot but not if i can see the spurs of course
Greatest commentary ever, look up Effin Eddie on youtube cheering on his beloved Aherlow GAA
Hudd isn’t fat – never has been really. I saw him running around Theydon Bois pre season 3 years ago and he looked a terrific specimen (in a manly way of course!)
As far as being an ‘odd’ team selection, only vert and walker from the first 11 were involved (although I expect Caulker to play Saturday – he’s young and will cope.) This means our team vs United will be fresh. The only suprise was tha absence of Lloris, but as someone remarked there’s nothing to gain from playing him in a game we expect to win.
As well as not being fat Huddlestone’s also nowhere near as slow as some in these parts would have you believe. I’d love to see him start on a more regular basis as I don’t think there’s a better passer of the ball in the league (and possibly in Europe). Dembele, Huddlestone and Sandro as the middle three is the way forward for me.
I still tend to think Huddlestone would make a brilliant central defender, similar to the way Ledders could play a hybrid defensive and attacking mid.
I agree. Problem is, we’re pretty well stocked in that department these days.
I say ‘problem’…
Yeah, was thinking that as I posted, strange when you consider we didn’t have a single fit one two seasons ago?
No Steve he is not fat, but horizontally challenged. He was (allegedly) baptised in seaworld… Mind you I would mind being that fat and handsome! (in a non homoerotic manner)
wouldn’t!
I went. Sadly I was far too bladdered to remember most of it and with so many unfamiliar squad numbers and such an unfamiliar angle of view, it’s rather tricky to give much of a report. What I can say is this:
1) Carlisle offered bugger all, particularly in the second half.
2) Huddlestone looked ok but not back to his best by quite some distance.
3) Tom Carroll looked very good when he came on.
4) Still looking like we’ve got a good ‘un in Caulker.
5) Brunton Park and Carlisle were both surprisingly nice. Again, though, that could have been my booze-tinted specs.
:daumen:
Perfect match report fella
