Chalkboard For Villa

Good morning.

Here we go then. Our valiant boys return from a game I wish I hadn’t watched. A game I hope they were forced to watch the tape of.

Speaking of games you wouldn’t want to watch has anyone noticed that Paul Lambert, Bob Matthews and Brendan Rodgers are all sat in a row on 5 points on the League? Each of them spending most of their spare time talking down relegation battle talk.

All three were shortlisted by varying degree to take over by Spurs fans. All three I campaigned strongly against as none of them has a CV worth a damn. Yes, yes, it’s early doors to quote Big Ron and in fact I wouldn’t be shocked to see him brought in to manage any of them by Christmas.

In fact he’d be a great fit a Liverpool, go down well in Norwich and would get on like a house on fire with Dave Whelan. So don’t dismiss this prediction.

I’d like Hugo Lloris to get a break but expect Brad to start.

The back line sort of picks itself with Jan being first name on the team sheet. I want to see him use the channels either side of Defoe and Dempsey and let the the quietly impressive Caulker act as cover here.

Caulker is great for set pieces in the final third and should alternate with Jan for those if both go – then Sandro drops in . Villa are likely to give us some space and it’s vital that Moussa finds it and uses it to pull the strings in the midfield.

Kyle needs to get a grip. It would be great to see him seriously owning that whole part of the pitch I swathed in yellow arrows there. 1. Defend 2. Defend. 3. Supply. He is a liability making these Forrest Gump runs and I can’t cope with him getting so far out of position to then lose possession much more.

That said Villa may not be equipped to punish us if that happens, but who wants to prompt them and find out?  The lad needs good habits drummed into him sooner rather than later.

We can beat this lot handsomely or it can all end in boos as our players look gormlessly at each other. Villa aren’t much cop but they’re better than the mob that very nearly beat us on Thursday.

Oh yes and Bale needs to justify his central role. Y’know. A goal.

More than unfair to judge Lambert, Martinez and Rodgers given that they are managing Villa, Wigan and Liverpool respectively. I think all are doing about as well as could be expected!

    Youve got to read this….

    http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2012/10/07/3431562/-

Adebayor is a striker. He is one of two.He says he will make Defoe a success.

Half the games we play with one striker so who does Adebayor suggest be the striker?

Watching Adebayor for us I think he has been another supply player along with the 23 midfielders and the 6 wingers.

Its time Adebayor concentrated on scoring.

We have backs that want to be wingers, wingers that want to be strikers, and strikers that want to be creative passers.

    • LLL says:

Don’t agree. We need him to support Bale, Dempsey and Lennon and help them score. Besides which, he scored 18 last year so can’t understand anyone knocking him for lack of goal scoring.

      • Ronnie Wolman says:

        Lennon??????

Bale needs supply from Adebayor????Its the other way around.

He could score a lot more he spends more time outside the area than in

        • Ronnie Wolman says:

dont get me wrong, his little flick passes are great. He has great talent but with a lack on potency in the box we need Adebayor to do better in the shooting department.

        • LLL says:

AVB wants to play a 4-3-3 which means the goals come from all across the front 3. That’s not going to happen with Defoe playing the lone striker.

        • Ronnie Wolman says:

Are you saying the egg should pass to the chicken or the other way around?

Why not sign Modric back and make him a striker

      • Ronnie Wolman says:

so are you saying that Adebayor is cheering on Defoe rather than being part of a team that has lacked scoring from strikers this season? (and BTW lacked goals period)
We dont need more supply we need players to pop the ball in.

        • LLL says:

We dont need more supply we need players to pop the ball in.

Isn’t that a bit chicken and egg?

        • Ronnie Wolman says:

Are you saying the egg should pass to the chicken or the other way around?

Why not sign Modric back and make him a striker…

        • LLL says:

I’m saying: have we been missing loads of chances? No, we haven’t been creating enough.

        • Ronnie Wolman says:

          Creating for who exactly????

We have not had any target men.

If you want the strikers to pass to Dempsey then Dempsey hasnt got himself in the box enough
and there is something wrong with that picture anyway.
Bale is supposed to do everything?
          Lennon is not a goalscorer.

        • Ronnie Wolman says:

The reason we dont have any strikers is that we tried to sign them but they are all too expensive.
Why is that? because they create?

So we have Defoe (who is good in certain situations) and Ade

Ade is goiung to do what?

He can score. But he doesnt focus on it

        • LLL says:

Jeez. 18 goals and 11 assists. Would you be happier if he had got less assists?

        • Ronnie Wolman says:

I think you dont understand. We havent scored enough and we can rely on others more to assist.
Adebayor is a striker. He can score and assist.
We need more goals from the strikers

        • LLL says:

You are right, I don’t think I understand either.

Defoe has 4 goals from 6 games, a very good return for a striker. We shouldn’t need or expect more than a goal every 2 games from a striker. The problem is that Defoe sucks up all the chances and squanders others by not playing others in.

In a 4-3-3 system, the goals have to come from all over your front line. Bale can score goals, Lennon can score more than he has done. Dempsey scores most of his goals from arriving late into the box. To get the most out of the system you need a CF who is the focus of the attack and can link it together. Which is Ade.

        • Ronnie Wolman says:

I can see where it helps for the striker to be able to create for others with fluidity all around but we have lacked focus in the box.So when the defences are tighter its more difficult for us.
We have done much better on the counter.
So without the striker being strong in the box we leave it to the other team to decide if we can play our tactics and not us.
We are missing the box threat its obvious

        • Ronnie Wolman says:

With saying that I just want to say that I never want to prove myself right if its against us.If Ade makes 3 goals today and we win Ill be happy

  • TMWNN says:

So as Everton are currently ahead of us, those who wanted Moyes as manager were right, and you wrong?

  • Jan Vertiginous says:

    links anyone?

  • spurskip says:
