Good afternoon.
Boy is it quiet out there. Quiet as the grave. Unless you’re Jimmy Savile of course. In which case you probably found yourself shouting,‘What’s all this then?! Goodness gracious!’ as the marker to your fetid, child molesting bones was unceremoniously ripped from the ground above you late last night/early this morning.
But one snippet emerged courtesy of Tom Collomosse in the Standard as he tantalisingly dropped a new name into the mix…
…and AZ Alkmaar midfielder Adam Maher …also thought to be firmly on the radar at White Hart Lane.
Maher’s name has turned up in relation to the Premier League before today. Back in September he was allegedly scouted by Cheatski, Sunderland, Manchester City and Newcastle. Farther afield he has allegedly attracted the interest of Barcelona and AC Milan. This may all smack a little too much of his agent having put a good shift in, but this needn’t detract from his actual talent.
Hailed as the AK Alkmaar wonderkid this 19 year old won the Eredivisie Young Player of the Year award last season, which of course rings a small bell delicately engraved, ‘Jan Vertonghen.’
Last One,….- :winke:
I have four wings, but cannot fly, I never laugh and never cry; On the same spot I’m always found, toiling away with little sound. What am I?

Habibs,Beebs and Boobs
It’s the Jiggins twins on an outing
???
Leave it Habib, you might catch something nasty if you try.
I once advocated getting Gary Neville in as a coach-but after reading how much Walker reckons he’s good ‘un-I’ve totally gone off the idea
Isco, Erikssen, this guy…we’re obviously trying to spread our bets on a few players we can develop and will increase their value, rather than spank £22m on a 26 year old Moutinho.
I would love to see Moutinho in a Spurs shirt, he’d be brilliant, but this is probably in our best interests IF we make intelligent buys, we can better complete the squad in other positions. It’s a big IF but in principle, I’m all for it.
Bring on the next unknown ratboy
its a biz.
32 mil thank you…….now who can I buy for 2 million
To a point, but from a football point of view it’s also the only way we can compete. If done correctly I’m not sure good business and sporting ambition have to be mutually exclusive.
If you’d put a crazed fan in charge of Spurs on Deadline day (or me), we’d have got Moutinho and Llorente, but would also be the next Leeds. £10-15m for a 1st team player is about our level. A little more for a no.9 if we’re clever.
For every player that cost £30m, there was a time when he cost £10m or less. There’s a sporting virtue in developing younger players too I think. Gives them a greater bond to the club. Would Modric have been such a tart if he’d joined us as a trainee? Would Willshere at the scum or Cleverly at United? Will Caulker with us? Probably not. Did Sol? oh bugger…
Moutinho and Llorente it would have been certain for the CL and the 50 mil would have come back in.
along with lets say 20 mil in selling players.
But generally I dont disagree.Small stadium etc.
It wouldnt be Leeds though, cant see it but if we missed the CL it would have cost us.
Levy and co are conservative no doubt.
Its the way they got to where they are.
Its hard for them to change. You would need to be an entrepreneur and Levy isnt. He tried to buy his way out of the bottom and did but found it was difficult to sell those players.
