Everton have reportedly made contact with Barcelona regarding a potential summer move for Swedish forward Roony Bardghji, according to TEAMtalk.
The 20-year-old joined Barcelona from Danish giants FC Copenhagen last summer and quickly tasted success, winning La Liga and the Supercopa de España in his debut campaign.
Despite those team honours, Bardghji struggled to nail down regular starts due to the presence of Lamine Yamal as the undisputed first choice on the right flank.
He still demonstrated his quality when given opportunities, contributing six goal contributions across 10 starts in all competitions throughout the season.
Barcelona are now looking to reshape their attacking options this summer, having already completed the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
The Catalan club are also working on a deal for Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, while making Marcus Rashford’s loan permanent is another item on manager Hansi Flick’s agenda.
With the squad growing increasingly crowded in attack, Barcelona are willing to cash in on Bardghji, though the player himself reportedly only wants to leave on a temporary loan basis.
Bardghji is said to be keen on securing regular playing time elsewhere before eventually fighting for a starting role back at the Camp Nou.
Everton want to pursue a permanent transfer rather than a loan, and the club have already been closely monitoring his performances over the course of the past season.
The Merseyside outfit face significant competition, however, with Leeds United, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Brentford all reportedly interested in the forward.
Bardghji still has a contract with Barcelona running until 2029, meaning the Spanish giants are expected to demand a substantial fee, with the player valued at around £13m by Transfermarkt.
Despite limited game time at Barcelona, the Swedish international is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young attackers in world football.
The left-footed right-winger is technically gifted, capable of dribbling past defenders in tight spaces and threading incisive passes through opposition lines.
Whether Everton can convince Barcelona to sell outright, rather than agree to a loan arrangement, remains the central obstacle in any potential deal this summer.
