Manchester United are making bold moves this summer as they look to leave behind a painful period and restore the club to genuine Premier League contenders.
The arrival of Ederson signals the club’s intent, with Michael Carrick’s interim spell providing a foundation that United’s hierarchy now want to build upon rapidly.
Midfield remains the primary area of focus for the Red Devils, but that has not stopped them from exploring significant upgrades across other positions simultaneously.
According to TEAMtalk, United have held talks over signing Dusan Vlahovic on a free transfer after the Serbian striker confirmed his departure from Juventus.
Vlahovic’s entourage has contacted several clubs with the opportunity to sign him, and United are among those who have registered serious interest in the forward.
Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Everton are also competing to bring Vlahovic to the Premier League, making this one of the more competitive pursuits of the summer window.
While the striker will demand a substantial salary package, the absence of a transfer fee gives clubs like United significant financial flexibility to structure a deal.
Dubbed “one of the best strikers in the world” by Serie A legend Luca Toni, Vlahovic has drawn admiration across Europe for his clinical finishing ability.
Even in a reduced role at Juventus this season, Vlahovic scored seven Serie A goals in just 970 minutes, averaging 4.55 shots per 90 minutes, underlining his sharpness in front of goal.
Those numbers put him ahead of both Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo in shots per 90, despite Vlahovic playing significantly fewer minutes than either teammate.
His closest creator at Juventus was Kenan Yildiz, who registered six assists and created 76 chances throughout the campaign, a solid contribution by most measures.
However, Bruno Fernandes operates on an entirely different level, having created 136 chances and broken the Premier League assist record with 21 in a Player of the Year-winning campaign.
The partnership between a finisher of Vlahovic’s calibre and a creator as prolific as Fernandes could prove devastating for opposition defences across the Premier League and Champions League.
Adding Vlahovic to an attacking roster that already includes Sesko and Mbeumo would give United a level of forward depth that most managers can only dream of assembling.
United must move quickly, however, as Vlahovic’s status as one of the most coveted free agents in European football will only attract more suitors as the summer progresses.
