Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson, according to Sky Sports, as they look to strengthen their defensive options.
Manager Michael Carrick is understood to be targeting left-back reinforcements following the departure of Tyrell Malacia, who left Old Trafford as a free agent this summer.
Robinson has been a consistent performer for Fulham since joining from Wigan Athletic in 2020, establishing himself as an undisputed starter at Craven Cottage over six years.
The American international enjoyed a particularly impressive 2024/25 campaign, registering 10 assists and keeping five clean sheets across 36 Premier League appearances.
Last term proved more difficult for the 28-year-old, who was limited by fitness problems and managed two goal contributions and five clean sheets in just 20 starts across all competitions.
Despite being born and raised in England, Robinson represents the United States national team through his father’s American citizenship, and he has been selected for the USA squad at this summer’s World Cup.
United’s primary left-back target is understood to be Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall, but the Magpies are expected to demand a significant transfer fee given that Hall’s contract runs until 2029.
With Hall’s move potentially proving difficult to complete, Robinson has been identified as a credible alternative option should United fail to secure the England international.
Transfermarkt values Robinson at around £19 million, and with the Fulham man entering the final two years of his contract, the London club may be open to selling to maximise any potential profit.
Patrick Dorgu is also capable of covering the left-back role at United, but Carrick has tended to use the young winger in a more advanced position, highlighting the need for dedicated defensive reinforcement.
Robinson is regarded as an attack-minded left-back who is also comfortable in the left wing-back role, offering qualities including pace, aerial ability, and an eye for a cross.
His status as a proven Premier League performer at the prime stage of his career makes him an attractive proposition for United, though it remains to be seen whether a concrete approach will materialise.
