Tottenham Hotspur are shaping up for a busy summer window, with multiple transfer targets already being actively pursued by the club’s hierarchy.

Spurs have been in negotiations with Brighton over Dutch defender Jan Paul van Hecke, with two bids already rejected by the South Coast club.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed this weekend that a third offer is now being discussed, with talks between the two clubs described as ongoing.

“Negotiations are underway between Tottenham and Brighton, already two bids rejected, but Tottenham are still there,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

Romano also revealed that Van Hecke himself is keen on the move, with the prospect of working under head coach Roberto De Zerbi a major draw for the defender.

“Tottenham have an agreement with the player, Van Hecke wants to go to Tottenham, tempted by the opportunity to work with Roberto De Zerbi, negotiations are ongoing,” Romano added.

Separately, Brighton have made a £30million bid to sign Croatian teenage defender Luka Vuskovic, who is yet to make a first-team appearance for Spurs since joining from Hajduk Split in 2023.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at Hamburg in the Bundesliga, appearing 30 times in all competitions and earning a reputation as one of the best young defenders in Europe.

Reports from the Netherlands suggest Brighton could look to combine the two deals, potentially offering Van Hecke as part of negotiations to sign Vuskovic, though the Seagulls would still demand a significant additional fee.

Van Hecke is not the only player Spurs are chasing this summer, with Romano confirming the club are also working on signing a new midfielder for De Zerbi.

“Tottenham are going to be busy, and what I can tell you in addition to this, is that Tottenham are also working on midfield,” Romano said.

“Tottenham want to do something important in midfield, Tottenham want a new midfielder for Roberto De Zerbi, and so for sure they will be busy with several things in the next weeks,” he continued.

Romano stopped short of naming the specific player or players involved, but confirmed the work on midfield reinforcements is already underway despite the ongoing Van Hecke saga.

Spurs have already added Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson to their squad as free agents this summer, signalling clear intent to reshape the squad under De Zerbi.

Monaco’s Lamine Camara, valued at £43million, has emerged as the most discussed option in the rumour mill, with the 22-year-old Senegal international said to represent exactly the kind of important long-term investment Romano was hinting at.
