Aston Villa have agreed personal terms with Pervis Estupinan as the club looks to fill the void left by Lucas Digne’s departure to PSG.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that the 28-year-old Ecuador international wants to move to Villa Park, with negotiations between the clubs advancing quickly.

Villa’s deal for Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes has already been confirmed, making this a busy and ambitious summer window for the club.

AC Milan are believed to be seeking around £17 million for Estupinan, who joined the Italian club from Brighton for roughly £14 million in 2025.

Villa have reportedly been working below Milan’s asking price in an attempt to find a compromise fee both clubs can accept.

Digne’s £10 million exit to PSG helps fund the operation and creates room in Unai Emery’s squad ahead of the new season.

Estupinan is a familiar face in English football, having made his Premier League name at Brighton with explosive overlapping runs, powerful crossing and reliable recovery pace.

His time at Milan was less commanding, managing 19 Serie A appearances and just 13 starts, though his core qualities remain highly valued.

Emery is personally keen to bring the full-back to Villa Park, having worked with Estupinan previously during his time at Villarreal, where the player helped the Spanish club compete successfully in Europe.

That existing relationship should significantly reduce the adaptation period and give the club confidence he understands the manager’s tactical structure and positional demands from day one.

Italian and English reports both describe the talks between Villa and Milan as having reached an advanced stage, adding further credibility to Romano’s claim.

Estupinan’s ability to attack space from deep, stretch opposition defences and deliver dangerous deliveries into the box makes him an almost like-for-like upgrade on Digne in terms of attacking threat.

Villa are also reportedly targeting former Spurs midfielder Joao Palhinha, signalling Emery wants more experience and midfield bite before the summer window slams shut.
