Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a move for Como defender Jacobo Ramon, with the Blues keen to bolster their defensive options this summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old Spanish centre-back began his footballing journey at Las Rozas before joining Real Madrid’s prestigious La Fabrica academy at just eight years old.
Ramon rose steadily through the famous Madrid youth ranks before eventually breaking into the first team at the Bernabeu, though regular minutes proved difficult to come by.
Seeking consistent game time and first-team development, he made the move to Como last summer and quickly established himself as a key defensive figure.
The youngster delivered a standout debut season at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, scoring twice and keeping 15 clean sheets across 37 appearances in all competitions.
Ramon also played a significant role in helping Como qualify for the Champions League, with the club finishing fourth in Serie A ahead of Juventus and AC Milan.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea are now considering purchasing at least one centre-back this window and could potentially sign a second defensive reinforcement as well.
The West London club have been impressed by Ramon’s eye-catching performances and have since expressed their interest in bringing the young Spaniard to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are also reportedly monitoring Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix, meaning Ramon is not the only centre-back on their radar heading into this window.
Despite Real Madrid selling Ramon to Como permanently, the Spanish giants retain a buyback clause and a 50% sell-on clause, giving them significant control over any future transfer.
Como hold strong cards in any potential negotiation, with Ramon’s contract running until 2030 and the club’s new Champions League status making it easier to convince him to stay.
However, the prospect of working under Xabi Alonso at Chelsea could prove a powerful draw for the young defender as he targets the next step in his development.
Ramon is a 6ft 5in right-footed centre-back who is technically gifted, comfortable playing out from the back, dominant in aerial duels, and efficient in his defensive contributions.
Transfermarkt currently value the defender at around £25 million, though any deal would likely involve complex negotiations given Real Madrid’s contractual clauses remaining in place.
Chelsea fans will be watching closely to see whether the club moves beyond initial interest and lodges a formal bid for the highly-rated Como star this summer.
