Liverpool have entered the race to sign West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville, with reports indicating the club has made a serious approach this summer.
The 24-year-old has become one of the most coveted players in the current transfer window following a standout World Cup campaign with the Netherlands.
Summerville registered four goal contributions in four games before the Netherlands were eliminated by Morocco in the round of 32.
His international form built on an impressive club season, during which he produced 12 goal contributions for West Ham despite the club suffering relegation to the Championship.
Manchester United had been leading the pursuit, with reports from Football Talk previously revealing that the Red Devils are in talks to secure his signature.
Liverpool now appear to be making a direct challenge, with CaughtOffside reporting that the Merseyside club has made a serious move to bring Summerville to Anfield.
The Reds have also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola and Chelsea’s Pedro Neto as they look to strengthen their attacking options this summer.
However, Summerville is viewed as the more attainable Premier League-proven option due to his directness and pace, which could hand Andoni Iraola an explosive forward in the final third.
West Ham have placed a £50m valuation on the former Leeds United star, though their relegation could bring that figure down to somewhere between £30m and £40m.
United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are also among the clubs credited with an interest, meaning Liverpool face significant competition to secure a deal.
The asking prices for Barcola and other wide targets remain astronomically high by comparison, making Summerville a genuinely attractive cut-price alternative for Liverpool’s recruitment team.
His familiarity with the Premier League removes the uncertainty that typically comes with signing a player from abroad, meaning he would not need time to adjust to the competition’s physicality.
Summerville would also join an established Dutch contingent at Anfield, with Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo already at the club to help ease any transition.
