Manchester United are “seriously considering” signing Paraguay international goalkeeper Orlando Gill this summer, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Gill, 26, has been on the radar of several clubs after delivering a series of standout performances for Paraguay at the World Cup.
The 6ft 6in shot-stopper helped Las Albirrojas reach the last-16 of the tournament before his country was eliminated by France.
In five World Cup appearances, Gill kept two clean sheets and recorded an impressive 79% save rate throughout the competition.
One of his defining moments came in the last-32 against Germany, where he saved two penalties in a shootout to send Paraguay through.
Since moving from Paraguayan side Sportivo San Lorenzo to Argentinian club San Lorenzo a couple of years ago, Gill has established himself as a key starter.
Transfermarkt currently values the left-footed goalkeeper at around £5m, with his existing contract at San Lorenzo running until the end of 2027.
United’s interest comes following Andre Onana’s loan move to Trabzonspor, which has left Michael Carrick’s side with Senne Lammens, Altay Bayindir, and Tom Heaton as their current goalkeeper options.
Lammens has become a regular starter since arriving at Old Trafford from Royal Antwerp, while Bayindir is said to be open to leaving in search of regular first-team football.
Gill is described as an excellent shot-stopper who is good in the air and efficient from the penalty spot, though he is regarded as a player who still has room to develop further.
Should San Lorenzo receive a concrete offer from a club of United’s stature, they would be in a difficult position to reject a deal for the 26-year-old.
Beyond goalkeeping reinforcements, Carrick is also looking to revamp United’s midfield and strengthen the left side of his squad this summer transfer window.
