Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Chelsea forward Pedro Neto as a contingency plan in their summer recruitment drive.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that Spurs are primarily focused on landing Manchester City winger Savinho to strengthen their attacking options this summer.

Should Tottenham fail to secure the Brazilian, Romano has revealed that Pedro Neto has been identified as a serious alternative target for the North London club.

Romano wrote on X: “Manchester City make direct contact with Pedro Neto’s camp as talks start over possible move. Neto among MCFC target if Savinho goes to Spurs while he’s also understood to be on Tottenham list as backup option. Deal also depends on Chelsea valuation.”

The situation has created a fascinating transfer triangle, with Manchester City also monitoring Neto closely in case Savinho departs for Tottenham.

The Portuguese forward is valued at around £51m by Transfermarkt and remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2031, giving Chelsea considerable leverage in any negotiations.

Neto, who is 26 years old, has proven himself to be a productive force in the Premier League, registering 10 goals and 10 assists across all competitions last season.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers star was part of the Chelsea side that won the Club World Cup and Conference League, contributing 17 goal contributions in that debut campaign at the club.

His strong performances in club football were enough to earn Neto a place in Portugal’s World Cup squad, further underscoring his quality at the highest level.

Tottenham’s need for wide reinforcements has become increasingly urgent given the injury situations surrounding their current squad options on the flanks.

Dejan Kulusevski has been sidelined for over a year through injury, while Wilson Odobert has suffered a serious knee problem and faces an extended spell on the treatment table.

Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus are also available as wide options for Spurs, but the club are clearly keen to add further depth and quality to their attacking unit.

Neto’s profile as a quick, versatile, left-footed attacker who can operate on either flank makes him an attractive proposition for Spurs heading into the new season.
