Arsenal are stepping up their pursuit of Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers, with the Premier League champions ready to fight for his signature this summer.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal face competition from Chelsea and Manchester City for Rogers, who is open to leaving Aston Villa ahead of the new campaign.
The Gunners lifted the Premier League title last month, ending a 22-year wait, but manager Mikel Arteta is clearly not satisfied with standing still.
Arsenal also reached the Champions League final this season, only to suffer a heartbreaking penalty defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, which will only sharpen the club’s hunger to strengthen.
Aston Villa are expected to drive a hard bargain in any negotiations, particularly after a successful season that included Europa League glory for Rogers and his teammates.
Villa have priced Rogers at £100m, a fee that reflects his standing as one of the most dynamic and exciting attacking midfielders currently operating in the Premier League.
Rogers, 23, recorded ten goals and six assists across 37 Premier League starts in the 2025/26 season, also contributing 13 big chances created and averaging 1.5 tackles and interceptions per 90 minutes.
His blend of attacking flair and defensive work rate has drawn comparisons to Arsenal legend Aaron Ramsey, who scored 64 goals and supplied 60 assists in 369 appearances across 11 years at the club.
Ramsey, now 35 and retired, was described as a powerful and dynamic midfielder, combative and cultured on the ball, with a relentless drive to make things happen in the final third.
Journalist Graeme Bailey has hailed Rogers for his “world-class” quality on the ball, while pundit Jamie Carragher has described him as “one of the best players in the Premier League.”
Rogers is capable of operating on the left wing when required, giving Arsenal an added tactical dimension alongside the likes of Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze in Arteta’s system.
Technical director Andrea Berta has faced scrutiny over some transfer decisions, with moves for Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke leaving plenty to be desired, making a successful Rogers deal even more important.
A move to north London would represent a significant step up for Rogers, who has shown he belongs among the elite but has yet to play Champions League football on a regular basis.
Declan Rice watched on as PSG lifted the European trophy this season, a moment that will have fuelled Arsenal’s determination to return stronger and go one step further next year.
