Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha as Michael Carrick continues to reshape his squad.
The Red Devils have already secured deals for two midfielders this summer, with Andrey Santos arriving from Chelsea and Ederson set to join from Atalanta.
Both signings are pending official announcement from the club, meaning United have already made significant investment in their engine room.
Despite the double addition, the club are considering a further midfield signing following Manuel Ugarte’s long-term injury, which has left a notable gap in the squad.
According to The Athletic, United are pondering a transfer for Nmecha, who impressed with Germany and has developed into one of the world’s most exciting box-to-box players.
The 25-year-old has a contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2030, and the German club have placed a £103 million price tag on their prized asset.
Dortmund are keen to retain Nmecha and will not let him leave cheaply, making any potential deal one of the more complex negotiations United would face this window.
Nmecha brings exceptional defensive reading of the game, along with the ability to carry the ball into the final third and make progressive passes, making him a well-rounded option.
His qualities would fit neatly into Carrick’s system, but United spending £103 million on a third midfielder would be a significant financial decision given their other squad needs.
United also have Kobbie Mainoo available as a capable midfield option, which could factor into the club’s thinking as they assess whether Nmecha represents genuine value at that price.
With Champions League football secured for next season, Carrick will want genuine depth across all areas, but revamping their defence and attack may take priority over a third midfield signing.
After finishing in the top four last season, United will be eager to push on and competing at the highest level demands a well-balanced and carefully assembled squad.
