Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as one of several clubs interested in signing Sevilla left-back Oso, according to Spanish outlet Vamos Mi Sevilla FC.
The 23-year-old defender, whose full name is Joaquín Martínez Gauna, came through youth setups at Algorfa, Kelme, and Murcia before joining Málaga’s academy in 2018.
After four years at Málaga, he moved to Sevilla and eventually broke into the first team, establishing himself as a regular starter in La Liga.
Oso made a solid impression last season, recording five goal contributions and keeping one clean sheet across 14 league starts for the Andalusian club.
His current contract is set to expire at the end of next season, raising serious questions about his long-term future at Sevilla.
The club have been working to extend his deal, but negotiations have stalled completely due to the financial demands made by his agent.
Rather than risk losing him for free, Sevilla are now prepared to sell Oso this summer and are looking for a fee of around €10m, which equates to approximately £8.5m.
Tottenham are understood to have been impressed by his performances last term, though they face competition from a lengthy list of rivals including Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Fiorentina, Real Sociedad, Villarreal, and Real Betis.
Five clubs have already made contact with Sevilla to enquire about the terms of a potential deal, though it is unclear whether Spurs are among those who have officially reached out.
Oso is described as an attack-minded left-footed left-back who is also comfortable operating as a left wing-back, known for his crossing ability and hard-working defensive contributions.
The Spurs interest comes against a backdrop of injury concerns surrounding current left-back Destiny Udogie, who has experienced fitness problems in recent seasons.
Whether Tottenham move decisively to secure the Sevilla defender or allow one of their many rivals to win the race remains to be seen as the summer window develops.
