Tottenham Hotspur have made formal enquiries over a potential move to sign Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio this summer transfer window.

Reports from Calciomercato.it, as relayed by Tuttojuve, indicate that Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi is very interested in the shot-stopper.

Tottenham have already contacted Juventus to understand the full financial package that a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would involve.

Juventus have placed a £12m valuation on the 28-year-old goalkeeper, making him a relatively affordable option in today’s market.

Di Gregorio began his career at Inter Milan, progressing through the under-17, under-19, and reserve teams before departing without a senior appearance.

He subsequently had loan spells at Renate, Avellino, Novara, and Pordenone before joining Monza permanently in the summer of 2020.

It was at Monza where Di Gregorio truly made his name, making 144 appearances and winning the 2023-24 Serie A best goalkeeper award.

That award-winning campaign saw him keep 14 clean sheets and concede just 35 goals across 33 matches, alerting several top clubs to his abilities.

Juventus signed him following that standout season, but a propensity for goal-costing errors has drawn scrutiny and left his future at the club uncertain.

Tuttojuve reports that Juventus are also weighing up a goalkeeper swap deal involving Spurs’ current first-choice keeper Guglielmo Vicario as part of any agreement.

Vicario produced 83 saves during the past campaign, compared to Di Gregorio’s 61, raising questions about whether the Italian would represent an upgrade between the posts.

Tottenham have moved decisively throughout this summer’s transfer window, already securing several priority targets ahead of the new season.

Reports also indicate that Spurs have been pushing to sign James Trafford, who represents another potential option to strengthen the goalkeeping position at the club.

De Zerbi’s admiration for Di Gregorio is clear, but Spurs’ recruitment team will need to weigh his statistics carefully before committing to a deal.

James is a UK-based staff writer and has been writing about sports and entertainment news for over six years.
