Liverpool are reportedly battling Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea for the signature of SL Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola.
The 22-year-old Norwegian has been on an upward trajectory since joining Benfica from Danish club FC Nordsjaelland, steadily growing into a key figure at the Estadio da Luz.
Schjelderup produced a strong domestic campaign, scoring 10 goals and registering seven assists across 43 appearances in all competitions for the Portuguese giants.
He also played a key role in Benfica going unbeaten in the Primeira Liga last term, underlining his growing importance to the club.
His impressive club form carried over into international football, where he helped Norway reach the World Cup quarter-final before losing to England last weekend.
The winger made four goal contributions across six World Cup appearances, significantly boosting his profile ahead of the summer transfer window.
With Schjelderup’s current contract running until 2028, Benfica have already offered him a new deal in an attempt to secure his long-term future at the club.
However, the forward has not yet accepted the proposal and is seriously considering leaving to take the next step in his career, with the Premier League his preferred destination.
A Bola report that Benfica initially valued Schjelderup at around £34m, though his standout World Cup performances have hardened their stance on that asking price.
The Portuguese club are now unwilling to accept anything less than that figure, with the player also carrying an £85m release clause in his existing contract.
Schjelderup is described as a quick, technically sound right-footed left-winger who can dribble past defenders in tight spaces while also contributing defensively without the ball.
Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea are all monitoring his situation closely, with all three clubs remaining attentive as the transfer window progresses into its latter stages.
