Mackem’s under the lights then. Hubba hubba.

With the talismanic shinner-iner that is Barren Dent absent and mediocre league form, this is a nailed on opportunity for the Tottinghams to truly enrage their support with a performance to make the end of the pier show at t’Reebok look like an investor show reel.

All mock belligerence to one side, this is a game that Sunderland cannot be looking forward to and one that Spurs really ought to go to town in.

The danger areas are potential outbreaks of individual acts of madness (Hello A&E :winke: ) and a destitute array of strikers. Is it true that Begbie has scored 2 more league goals than Peter Crouch this season?

Super Romancrazypavin’s goal at Bolton was extraordinarily good. Lost in the mists of gloom perhaps, but it was an absolute belter all the same.

Value at the bookies is thin on the ground. So have a tickle at 1-0 half time, 3-1 full time and you ought to be offered 66/1 or better.

I hope Arry is the real deal but I am starting to wonder.

We improved when he arrived but was that down to tactical nous or his ability to bring the best out of a player combined with his anti rotation stick with a winning team style ?

A couple of years ago the more average sides would have a go at us but now they park the proverbial bus in front of us and try and catch us on the break. One can argue that we are short of a really top striker but surely we have enough clever guys to break down these dorks most of the time?

WE need that top striker but we also need a seriously good central defender who is fit and a true leader of men.

The centre of our defence is as soft as a tarts cleavage.

Anyone heard Redknapp’s post match nonsense?

Go and have a look on the BBC.

Message to Redknapp – You’re at a big club now, not Pompey or the pikeys.

I’ve no idea why he’s smiling in that interview, or why he doesn’t think our league form is a problem.

Doesn’t he realise that if he carries on at this rate, he’ll never get the job he wants?

        make you right mate
but this form will carry on till we are knocked out of the champs lge. it just aint happening for us at the moment till we get a settled back four(who knows when) and jd comes back firing and lennon starts playing properly with bale playing like he can..could be a long wait.

We all know that we fucked up in the summer not buying the players we desperately needed to fill weak areas in the team/squad. Harry and Danny would have gotten away with it had we not sustained injuries top Defoe and Dawson who would have provided a tighter defence and some cutting edge. Given that, what we all saw and feared is coming pass.

In the circumstances, Harry is doing the right thing with Crouch and the alternative is not Pav but PSB. Don’t get me wrong I am a growing admirer of our little Cossack, but he does not and probably cannot, lead the line; he is not a lone striker. His art is more like a Martin Peters than a Martin Chivers, he ghosts, he drifts and fades from the focus of defenders and then pops up to score.

Given our situation I wouldn’t expect Harry to rely on Pav to lead the line; its niaive. However at home against Sunderland and with their away form, we might have risked bringing 3MP on and keeping Pav on too!

What concerns me more is Dawson’s injury has highlighted that HE is our key central defender and his absence is certainly the reason most think we are suspect there. Now Daws is a lovely chap who’d insist on being buried in the shirt after he died defending it, but is he really (yet) that influencial? Clearly the acquisition of Gallas was an accepance that we needed at least one more patch for the puncture repair kit that is our defence. For me we need to fix the holes in the boat as well as getting a better outboard. I cannot believe we can continue with any of Ledders, Woodgate or Gallas once we can acquire alternatives. They may get fit, they may lend their experience, but we are living on promises of past glories and not allowing a proper combinations to gel and settle.

In all the furour of lacking a better forward mix, without scoring, we should be able to at least find a way to stop shipping say four at Bolton? Wasn’t THAT what playing with a lone striker away from home was all about….parking the proverbial?

OK its been a bit of a double bogey on Harry losing both the best of the Forwards and the best of the Central Defenders, but teams out there are not scared of us because they know that regardless of how many we score, they can score more. We are playing defence by attack, in the mould of Ossie Ardiles (bless him) and it doesn’t work in the EPL against teams playing hard to stay in the division and season by season improving their odds; look at the table.

Last year we defended resolutely we shipped few goals, we nicked 1-0 wins and held position: WHL was a fortress. Its now Harry & Danny goal emporium:

“Come on, come to White Hart Lane. We got gaols to giveaway, goals going cheap…. we’ll even score them for you and gift wrap ’em. No don’t worry about us scoring against you…… we wouldn’t do that would we? Roll up and take your turn, take the piss, then take the points!”

Its arrogance, we are this, we are that, we beat Inter……. we are mid-table mediocre: results don’t lie.

Blackpool could go above us tomorrow. :-(

  • Ned says:

Gawd. I have seen Harry get less flak from gooners than on this board. Bring back Ramos eh lads .
