Guten morgan happy clappen.
The feel good factor continues a pace then. The game was exactly what it ought to have been what with us being at home, on a roll and better at playing football than them all factoring in to a decent win.
In no particular order I was actually sad to see Jenas go off. He has drastically improved of late and this was a game that would have probably suited him in terms of the shape Werder played etc…
Is one of your goats missing? The odds are that 3MP has it. He’s got mine. I’m finding this ‘pop it onto the big fella’s bonce’ routine increasingly irritating. It’s not a strategy, it’s a lottery. Passing to Pete turns possession into a 50/50 ball.
Kaboul is looking damn good. Insightful comment perhaps after 2 goals in 2 games, but while his goals are more than welcome but foremost I need him to do his job at the back well and he has been. Let’s hope his consistency continues…
ZE RATINGS
Gomes – Rumoured to have watched the 2nd half in the Bill Nick
Begbie 5.73 – He can run, jury still out on everything else
Raging Kaboul 7.1 – Great shift
Billy Bob 7.09 – Looking every bit like a captain. Blimey
A&E 4 – Erratic would give a bad name to erratic things
Azza 6.79 – Certainly improving, flashes of what he can deliver
Jenarse – Gout
Modders 8 – Took him a good while to bloom
Bale, Bale, Bale 7 – Good game, pants penalty
Roman – 5 Forgettable
3MP – 7 Are all his faults in his detractor’s minds. Including me?
Krankie – 6 Great to see him back, looked keen as you like
Defoe – 6 Greedy? Not if he’d scored. He didn’t. Greedy
Arry – Good luck in front of the Beak today
Glad to see Lennon and Wilson back in form, with Defoe soon to follow :). Hopefully VDV’s injury is nothing serious and he’ll be back by Sunday.
The most important thing now is beating Liverpool. With a settled, confident side we can beat any team in this league (and indeed in Europe) it’s the bread-and-butter Wigans and Sunderlands we keep stumbling to! But there’s no reason why we can’t become a ruthless machine, if we can just figure out the right team chemistry and buy a super striker in Jan.
No rating for Wilson who looked right back to his best at times, albeit against poor opposition. Hope we’ve got our Sarge back!
There was a very sloppy spell in the first half (most of the half!) where almost everyone gave the ball away very cheaply (I particularly remember Benny and Modders) – that will have to improve.
sarge gives us more balance and allows modders more freedom.
Completely agree. J***s is a jack of all trades, master of none. With all the attack minded players in there we need a specialist in the middle to stay back and destroy.
Get rid of Pav, the beanpole and pointy, bring in Tim Cahill (who is the best in the PL at getting on the end of crosses) and a top marksman.
PALACIOS!!!!
You not going to give him a rating then??
I wouldn’t say Windsor Palace was back to his old self but there were certainly signs that he’s shaking off the troubles he’s been shouldering… Was very good to see him put in a couple of very solid but well-timed tackles when he came on… His distribution is still pants though.
Begbie is looking ‘nae bad’ as they’d say in Sauchiehall St – Needs to work on the final ball but he’s getting himself in some very good positions.
3MP – Frustrating as it may be, he scored one & set up one (and missed several) but when they’re playing a flat back 8 there’s not too many options sometimes. I think we’d be mad to sell him but agree that it needs to be plan B rather than A.
BAE just tried too many clever passes. As PLN said, needs to keep it simple.
Pav’s mind is too busy going through his packing list, any hungry centre forward would have told Bale to sling it on the penalty. Think he knows the writing is on the wall even if he can’t read it.
Was it me or did I hear a ‘Yiddo’ chant for our Captain?!!!???
