Reports are circulating that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger went missing in the Newcastle area over the weekend. If anyone has any information please ring 0414243444

    Sorry.

Thanks for the earlier bit on West Humid’s stadium plans. Altogether a pretty informative piece. Interesting that they do not include an artist’s impression of the actual arena, sight lines etc. Our designs don’t need to.

Because it’s the UK and Lord Coe is a lord, if you see what I mean, WH will probably get the nod. Old boy stuff, in the club, over a brandy and soda, all tied up and sealed with never a word on paper.

Him and Kate ‘Jolly bloody hockeysticks’ Hooey should be made to pay for the thing until they find a suitable use for it. Too much public school education and not enough common sense to see that they needed a tenant lined up before drawing up the original plans. Blithering idiots.

Harold, another problem you may wish to highlight to your blog people is that it doesnt convey my thoughts accurately. The evidence

    1. Clearly I wasnt posting too fast
    2. When you read back at the sensible things I’ve said there has to have been some mistake. I always talk cobblers

I shall jot this evidence down on an Etch A Sketch and send it to Dr Miriam Stoppard.

      What’s happened to your Grrrravatar?

Just listened to DL on Talk Sport. He came across very well regardless of whether you support the move to Stratford or not. The bottom line is that we are absolutely not going to stay at WHL unless we get substantial investment from the public purse and that of course is not going to happen. He quite rightly highlights the decline of Tottenham as an area has been going on for ages and the lack of public investment over a long period has effectively given us no choice but to move… ie the transport, infrastructure is and never will be good enough. As a Spur for 43 years, I would love to stay at WHL but the reality is that we have outgrown Tottenham. Sadly we and the local Tottenham community have been let down by the politicians by lack of investment, neglect and turning a blind eye, paying lip service to the real problems and needs of the local community. Now that we MUST get a bigger stadium it is obvious that Tottenham/Harringey as an area cannot sustain that ambition. If we move and it is inevitable that we will, then blame the politicians not DL and the Board. I repeat that I wish we could stay at WHL but the finances, transport and infrastructure just will not support it, without huge investment from the public purse, which just will not come. If we can get a better venue than Startford in or around the Tottenham area that would be my choice but as to where that would be is anybodys guess. The whole OS project is a mess in that whoever gets it after the games it will NOT be ideal. The Spurs bid is imo the most ideal in that it does actually make money and is sustainable long term. We shall see but the entire OS project is indeed the usual curates egg we have come to expect from any big publically funded event (remember the Dome, which incidentally has been turned around by er… AEG).

We need to move on, Stratford is the only show in town

    • Anthony In That Number says:

In terms of financial sense we are also the only show in town for Stratford.

As to moving I agree albeit reluctantly because we do not have a viable alternative at present. It does not of course mean to say that we could not come up with a viable alternative if we were to lose the OS bid but I think WHL is not going to be a contender, unless we can get public money to support it. Possibly elsewhere in North London or edges of but as to where, goodness only knows.
All a bit sad but we absolutely MUST get a bigger stadium somewhere. I just do not want to see us going back being to a mid table, Carling Cup run team. We must push on.

      • Astromesmo says:

One thing that’s come out of everything is that WHL, loved as it is, has too many limitations to make it a going concern. The planning permission is capped in the low 50,000’s, meaning that we would never be able to expand beyond our expensive new design.

All the Stratford debate has made Levy realise that he can fill a 60k stadium from the get-go and with a bit of success in the first 10 years or so, could probably add another 10k to the capacity as they have at Old Trafford.

Reading between the lines, I think this is what he means about the viability of the NDP and that one way or another the future doesn’t lie with that plan. I don’t believe that they’ve not looked at alternatives, I think that’s a bit of smoke & mirrors but we’re not really going to know the truth on anything until Baroness whatsit has taken her ‘executive decision’.
