Quarter Finals Here We Come [Player Ratings]

Morning one and all.

The good ship Tottingham sailed into the the quarter finals of the Champions League last night. It wasn’t how many of us thought it would be. AC where bound to come out fighting and they certainly adopted a different strategy to the one that saw them get beat at the San Siro. But the real difference was how Spurs stood their ground.

The unsophisticated viewer might say that a ‘bus’ was parked. But without being to biased I felt that what was implemented by Arry and the boys was a tad classier. Parking the bus is everyone and the tea lady blocking play, your centre forward as a centre back. Hello Wolves fans.

Spurs actually held a line and held a shape that wasn’t breached too often despite the Italians chucking their fancy top of the range kitchen sink at us. It was a credit to Spurs that they had the wit and the wisdom to adapt and survive.

It wasn’t a thing of beauty, but then it’s difficult to imagine that 3MP in the nip is either – but Abbey Clancey’s let him get off with her so much experts say that she will sire a baby giraffe by him later this year.

Gomes 6.87 Apparently he’s a big Shaking Stevens fan.

Charlie 5,43 Not at his best but still worth 2.5 Begbies.

Gallas 8.23 ‘Too old’ – Arsene Wenger. ‘Super duper’ – Harry Hotspur.

Les Dawson 6.38 Held the line well enough.

A&E 5.99 Under pressure he cracked.

Azza Blud 6.92 We played down the middle a lot. He was okay.

Sandro 9 MOTM A revelation. Lots more, please.

Modders 6.93 He was swamped. Not an excuse, a fact.

Peanut 5 Arry, play Krankie, old son. Please.

VDV 6.45 I’m terrified he’s in an ‘injury cycle’. I hope I’m wrong.

3MP 7 The referee was a wonker. He couldn’t buy a fair call.

Bale, Pav & Jen*s all too little time to warrant a score…

The Times is then in disagreement with just about the entire footballing world regarding Sandro.

Not to be a prude, but I kind of preferred this place minus the wonderfully eloquent Horny Helen and the porn links. A pseudo-intellectual blog made this place stand out from the other zillion boys brigade football blogs out there :P

But to get back to the match, Peanuts did a job, and I like his dynamism. He’s direct and physical without being cultured, and he does give us a different option. Kind of like Jenas but better. Let’s be frank about Krankie. He scores bullet goals and for that we love him, but does he do anything else? He doesn’t just look languid, he is actively lazy, and when games are about tight space, closing down midfields, being a physical presence, I’d go for the harder working, more robust presence of Peanuts every time. Krank is a luxury player.

VdV hugely off the boil at the moment. Can only assume he just wasn’t fit. And Dawson deserves a higher mark. That’s my two cents.

shit game but we won didn’t we? If we make the final we won’t care one iota about one game which was a bit dull when we’ve lit the competition up all season.

I always thought that horny helen was a wrong’un – ‘man in a dress club’ no doubt, fucking weirdo trannie

agree on most of the ratings, think peanut is at wrong club unless he starts to provide assists or goals (J***s MK2), gomes will shorten all our life expectancies if he stays as our No.1 – complete nutter

I actually typed Jenas Mk II (without the age based “give him time excuse” that used to get bawled out from those coming to JJ’s defence) yesterday – then deleted it – thought I’d give him a bit more of a chance. :freu

    Good news:
    We’re through.
    The scum aren’t.
    Bale is back playing.
    Sandro is looking the bollocks.

    Bad news:
    Gomes is regressing.
    Our strikers are still shit.
    Jenas is still at Tottenham.

Pienaar is nothing more than a handy squad player. What exactly is he? Seems like a Jack of all trades master of none to me. If Sandro continues his progress he takes Hudd’s place in the starting 11. 3 years younger than Huddlestone yet does 3 times the work.

Hey leave our tommy alone. Different players and good for different opponents. Selling Thudd would be madness.

On Peanut; give him time peeps. As with Thudd he brings us something different to Kranks.

Let’s soak up the luxury of having two players for every position who are offer a slightly differing dynamic.

A good squad we now have which will be completed by a top quality striker. Job done

      Rubbish.

We should be building the team around a Thudd/Sandro partnership. They can provide the platfrom from which the likes of Lennon, Bale and Modric will flourish.
