The Boy Bale Back For Los Blancos

Our old friends at Spurs Odyssey are alive and kicking. Which is nice.

A relatively new ‘member’ offered this…

‘Just got an update about Gareth’s injury. It’s a grade 1 tear and he could of played today but wouldn’t then of been fit for the Real Madrid game so good news for us. The new contract extension has a buy out clause added to it so that Gareth has more control over if and when he goes.

Having said that, however, he is absolutely loving it at Tottenham and has no plans to go anywhere at the moment but it does all depend on us staying in the CL.He loves the lads and the life he has and wants to stay at Spurs so lets just make sure we qualify again.’

This was immediately greeted of course with ‘and just how do you know all this?’ But I’d be less inclined to rubbish this for no other reason than it’s refreshingly coherent, balanced and lacking in sensationalism. You know – unlike those idiots that either speak in riddles or come out brash stuff like Benzema Loan Deal Done!

So, he may well be available for the next installment of our Champions League adventure where we face The Honkeys in downtown Spain. Which is nice.

I think it’d be crazy for Bale NOT to have a get out clause and he or his agent have been smart enough to put something in place that will protect him should things change and at the same time will not hurt the club. Remember too that he has to maintain the level he’s been at to be worth the buy out figure which I’d presume is up here somewhere.

The fact that Harry is a real prospect for the England role and may be off in a year or two, make this a prudent and sensible back door.

Great news about Gallas. Even as age slows him down a bit he’s still a top ten Centre Back and both Daws and Kaboul will learn heaps. I still think however we need to trim Led-gate this summer and acquire one new Central Defender.

Agree totally Ledley days are over and if he had any sense he should let it go and poss take the opportunity to get some coaching exp could be very useful for the def side coaching sadly his playing days are numbered and I would not be shocked to hear of his retirement at the end of this current season. A loyal servant to the club but is unfortunately occupying a spot in the 25 that could be better utilised for bringing some younger prospects through!!!

        Here here.

I disagree fervently with both of you, just calling my dog in.

        Apologies for any confusion.

Caulker is that younger prospect we can bring through, he looks very very good. It is so sad that Ledley has been hampered by terrible injuries. He is undoubtedly the best defender I have seen in my time watching Spurs almost 50 years. From what Harry said on an interview recently on Talksport I would not be surprised at Ledley calling it a day at the end of this season. Harry confirmed as we all know, that as Ledley cannot train things obviously are catching up with him, with hamstring and groin injuries almost inevitable. We of course have a similar problem with Woody to consider at the end of the season too. Both tremendous players but with the 25 man squad system it does limit our options. I suppose with Kaboooom, Daws, Gallas, Basssongers, and Caulker we are pretty well served at CB. Having said that with our injury record you can never have enough cover!!!!

Caulker could be about to extend the line of injured Spurs CB, as he was due to have an ankle op in the Summer but has now sustained a knee injury and will not play again this season.

Astromesmo: missed out on the nanosecond window to buy a Madrid ticket

There are loads on general sale on Real’s website.
Tottenham obviously not such a big draw over there.

Perhaps he is worried abour sitting among the Real supporters and being outed as a Spurs fan.
To qualify as a Spaniard, he must utter the lines ” Elloo Laddeeess”.
      All yours Astro.
