The current Tottingham frontline couldn’t score in a Chinese brothel with a pocket full of rice. Would you do a deal with the devil?

I think I’m on record as saying that this son of ****** Baldgarian actually came from a place that was so low that even the rats was hunchbacked.

I remember watching The Paul Daniels Magic Show and he had Robert Maxwell on as a publicity seeking stooge. The Bouncing Czech repeatedly plugged his organ – Daniels hushed him, saying to camera – ‘people play tricks with mirrors.

The Daily Mirror are suggesting that he could return to The Lane at knockdown price of £10M-£12M. Wow.

Now suspend ye olde ‘paper talk!’ and answer me this. Would you have him back?

Before you reply, don’t get tooooo precious. Gallas is giving many of us the guiltiest of hot flushes. And he used to …. well, you know.

There’s a poll so you can express your view without the bother having to make up a user name.

Also berba left and got us some serious money for the purchase of others…….so levy held on knowing he wanted to try a career move….remember united are about to win a 19th title!!….so we stop feeding others for title contenders as much as poss and pick up the bargains…eg. vaart…

Talk of buying a young or unproven player misses the point.

Modric, Bale, Lennon, Dawson, Gallas + some others are ready for a title challenge. Arguably they were ready this season but certainly they are next season. They are already there.

Add a couple of strikers like Berba and Drogba and our strike force will be ready for a title challenge next season too. It will match the midfield and defence mentioned above.

Of course we probably will not win the title but if we are not to give it a go next season with all we have going for us at present then we never will.

Like I said the football case for adding a couple of proven strikers like those two is unanswerable imo.

That’s exactly what I said last season. This was the season to do it. Next season we’ll fall further behind. Levy and Redknapp have made sure of that between them.

I know. I mean what is there to wait for?

We have had recent success and got some top class defenders some world class midfielders all of whom seem happy to stay and we are in good shape financially too. If that is not a chance to go for the title then we may as well give up.

Fair enough if the club don’t want to spend megabucks like 30m+ per player. But say you could ship Keane/Bentley/Gio and add 10m to get those two strikers then it is hardly jumping into Leeds territory.

Agree we missed a trick last summer and it will probably cost us another chance at the CL next season. But we could say the bright side is a clear run at the league next season which could at least get us a silver lining. If we take it.

Mixed feelings on this. clearly a talented player, but his moodiness and the manner he left us could cause all kinds of issues in the dressing room. Can’t we find some unknown striker from Brazil

One area where the Latin clubs are well ahead of us is in the field of South American scouting.

It is clear that there are bargains to be had there. I think Palacios was originally bought for £1mill while he was in Honduras, and £6mill for Sandro is beginning to look like we held a gun to their heads to seal the deal. The only problem of course is work prrmits. We almost signed Robinho but for this, and we had similar probs with Convey.

If you can find someone whose parents/grandparents held an EU passport, you can get around this.

Good thought though. We need “thinking outside the box”.

    Super Injunction news:

Apparently Defoe’s ex, Imogen Thomas has launched a singing career. She has secretly been doing Giggs in Manchester.

    CFC away:
    —————-Gomes—————

    Kaboul—-Dawson—-Gallas——Bale

    ———Sandro——–Hudd——-

    VDV———–Modric———-Peanut

    ————–Crouch—————–

Defensively solid with Hudd/Sandro holding. Pienaar covers Bale better that VDV would on the left so Lennon misses out unfortunately. Could swap VDV for Lennon but Rafa’s form has picked up recently.
Spurs to win 1-0 (Rafa) and all to be good with the world (until we lose to Blackpool that is)

    • SpoletoSpur says:

Swap Pienaar and Crouch for Lennon & Pav and I’d agree with you.

      • AS says:

That would weaken us I think. Putting two wingers on one flank is risky as Bale will need some protection. Pienaar is the better choice and had a solid LM performance the night we beat AC in the San Siro for example.

And Crouch believe it or not is actually our ‘in form’ striker. Crouch has scored 3 goals in his last 4 starts whereas Pav only has 1 goal in his last 4 starts. Taking a longer view over each players last 9 starts Crouch has scored 4 and Pav 3. 3MP Goal Machine !

        • TMWNN says:

I agree with you in that 6th will be better than 5th, but only as long as we are prepared to seriously invest. If we go off half cocked like this season, we may as well be in the Europa League.

They’ve had untold rest this season, and still managed to fuck it up, league wise.

        • AS says:

First prize CL. Second prize Europa League (or a set of steak knives if you prefer) :) That Thursday night cup would put a damper on any title push for sure. Doubt the players rate it either. Probably the most likely outcome of this season though is Europa qualification followed by another summer like last summer and in September us trying to say ‘well it is still european football’ even if we put in jet lagged performances every sunday. Still we can hope for better.
