Sirs,

This morning my house maid Mitzy Dupree happened to read me an interview with an employee of yours, one Luka Modric which appeared on the website Jutarnji.hr.  I nearly fell of my polo pony.

“..if a club comes an offer that will satisfy the club and me, then the transfer is possible.”

Whilst I appreciate you cannot entirely control what these characters say and do, might I suggest you take immediate steps to knock this one on the head. Perhaps explaining to the player that he is a prized asset and as far as you are concerned it is unimaginable that an offer could possibly ‘satisfy’ either the club or the player. That you are prepared to do all that you a conceivably able to do in order to retain his services.

Additionally it might be a superb opportunity to also assure supporters that is the case and Hands Off Fergie!

Your man in the trenches bayonet fixed,

The Boy Hotspur.

I see the DM has the same old adage “if there’s no story just make one up”. This from the same wretched rag that proclaimed “hurrah for the blackshirts” in the 30’s. I can only assume these “journalists” are getting a reward like sniffing the toilet seats at Old Trafford after Fergie’s had a shit for petting his agenda

If we are gonna sell him sell him abroad and defo not to Manure or Cheatski if we really wanna be considered contenders we cannot be bullied into selling our best players pay rise increased contract job done beers in go home!!!

Completely agree. On that very note I could see ManUre getting Schneider and then Modders to Inter????? Inter are the only Italian team club with any money . Having said that I desperately hope none of our top players go.If we can keep our best and add 2 forwards, a keeper and a centre back we will be as strong as ManUre anyway. The main problem we obviously have is that we have so much dead wood to get rid of before DL will go out and spend the really big money. We have 8 or 9 players that we would like to shift but in this market who will buy and more importantly who can pay them the wages they have become accustomed to?? We could well do without PSB, JJ, Bentley, Dos Santos, Hutton, O`Hara, possibly Crouch, sadly Krankie, Alnwick, and we still have the dilemma over Woodie as well. Whatever happens it will be a busy summer. If we could get rid of those and get in Drogba or possibly Anelka, Given, and Gary Cahill or Ryan Shawcross plus say Young Mr Wickam we would be very serious challengers indeed.

Modders comments if accurate do not help but we were always going to have our best players linked with other sides this window and whether we can fend off bids for Modric, Bale, VDV and Sandro from bigger clubs will define us for years to come.
If we sell, it would indicate we have not learnt from past events when Fergie has come waving his cheque book and we have just folded.
In the past, it has been said you cannot keep a player who wants to leave so we sold Berba, PSB and Carrick.
Last seaon the goons stood firm with Barca re Fabregas and whilst you could argue it did not benefit them in terms of performance or trophies won, at least they stood their ground.
If we sell these players now, we enter yet another re-building period and I am sick of the jam tomorrow promises.
I want jam today and loads of it, together with scones, cream and suitable liquid refreshment.
