Good afternoon.

Sorry to drag you away from the Fa Cup Final or a RedTube marathon or whatever the hell it is you miscreants do when you’re not on here being upbeat funsters.

The word comes from on high. Archie on Spurs Odyssey no less says that the man who wants out is Sebastien Bassong. For the player this will not be a quick process. Levy & Co do not simply hand out players like complimentary mint choccies like some friendly curry house.

Any prospective owner will have to pass stringent tests. Namely being able to lay their hands on market value and show a willingness to hand it over.

I like Bassong in a sort of don’t have any great reason to dislike him sort of way. But I guess you have to respect the fact he wants to play to an extent that he is actually prepared to do something about it.

Prematch prattle en route. Innit.

    Bassoon out, Samba in?

Another one like Krankie who just seems not to be rated by ‘Arry. I think he’s a good player and obviously ‘Arry did when he bought him.

Somethings I just don’t understand about ‘Arry’s thinking….but I’m an idiot of course.

I’m another idiot… but how is any player like Krankie or Bassong ever going to impress ‘Arry if we don’t have reserves playing real competetive football?
Seems if he don’t rate you, theres only ever going to one outcome.
Bring back the Everard Ovenden Papers combination or whatever its called nowdays, give the fringe players a chance to shine.

i understand everyone’s frustration at the moment because our expectations have been raised. but logically we probably have the 6th most to spend on players, and we are 6th. It makes sense, and as frustrating as it is for us that clubs like city and chelsea can buy higher places in the league, it’s equally annoying for teams like everton and villa who don’t spend as much as us.

anything above 6th is therefore a bonus for the moment. i do agree with a lot of the stuff harry says, and i think we’re not far away at all from being a top contender – that was proven by how we dominated the game at city.

however, our problems this year, while few, are significant, which has been the difference. we all know what they are – two strikers (at least one big drogba character to play with vdv maybe), a reliable and influential goalie, a right back and a backup leftback. (we’ll see how walker and rose do next year maybe)… if we sort that out in the summer then we’re on our way.

you have to understand harry’s frustrations concerning fans who constantly back a player like pavlyuchenko and call for him to be sacked. let’s get behind spurs and try to push for the top 4 next year with no distractions.

I agree, but the point you’re missing is the fact that Levy knew these were pretty much our squad short comings at the beginning of last season and he definitely knew what they were by the time the January window arrived.

Levy’s failings here are Redknapp’s only excuse for our throwing this season away. As I said on another thread, the blame lies 40% Levy 40% Redknapp and 20% the players.

Let’s stop apologising for him and see him jog on. Totally classless bent idiot of a man.

You’re still going to have to direct me to the massive long run of games afforded to Pavlyuchenko, to justify your latter remark. But that is hardly the only underlying issue, so using it to deflect any blame from Harry doesn’t carry a hell of a lot of weight.

These problems that need addressing that you speak of were identified many moons ago, and needed addressing then. The fact remains, Harry failed to either address them, or overcome them. Harry is even blaming the (his?) scouts for not buying Suarez. One can only conclude he wants to build his team around an injury prone one dimensional player – the one who Suarez was apparently too similar to. Genius.

Harry being our manager is a distraction in itself. You don’t seem to acknowledge that with your ending plea.

Here’s a quote from John Pratt:

“I had been getting it in the neck a bit from some of the sections of the crowd at Spurs but Bill expected his players to be men, and he said that the crowd paid our wages and were entitled to have their opinions. So one day, before I was due to play my first game at Old Trafford, I asked him what I could expect. He replied that it would just be like playing at Spurs, except that up there 55,000 people would hate me, whereas at Spurs it was only 45,000!”

In Harry’s dreamworld, 999 out of every 1000 attendees at the lane are happy. Which we all know is utter bollocks. Again.

    • Roy Singh says:

The fans objective are to get behind Harry. By the same token, fans are also entitled to voice their opinions when they detect “something is going wrong”

      • Roland Rat says:

Doesn’t mean they are right though especially as they have no qualifications to make any judgement. They have never managed a club or man managed players, needless to say they would be a complete flop and make Gross look good.

Well said that man. It’s nice to have a believer in our midst

I have often made the same point myself about our purchasing power, but there are also other matters to be considered:

We have taken 3 from 18 against the bottom three. We outplayed Citeh twice but only got 1 pt. We out scored Chelsea with goals, but again only got 1 pt. I know HR can’t be blamed for poor refereeing. We have had a run of 1 win in 13. Can anyone recall the last time we had a run like this? I would not be surprised if this was a record.

It is not too difficult to see this is a team that should have scored another 20 points this season and be looking at another year in the CL, but instead, us “idiots” are now being told “If only Bale had not been injured”.

We should have taken 18 points from our first six games (when Bale was indeed fit), but took 8 points. At the start of the season, HR took over a young, but capable team that was going to improve, and indeed in patches, we did show what we were capable of, but this has been a season of abject inconsistency.

The reality is that in spite of our financial handicap, we managed to build a team that should have finished in the top three, and are currently displaying form that would leave us at the bottom of the table. That requires an explanation.

      • Roland Rat says:

Simple, the strikers didn’t score any goals. Next question.

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

Well on that basis, I can tell you why we did not win the PL, CL and Greyhound Derby.

What it comes down to is that either the tactics were wrong, or the strikers were crap. Certainly none of them look capable of leading the line in a 4-5-1, but in 4-4-2 they scored 37 goals last season.

  • nicktheyid says:

he was very good for the barcodes previous to moving and is still young for a center back.shame to see him go but if he isnt playing he wont improve, could see him going to the gooners as it was reported they were interested while he was a magpie.if they want out let em go!just dont demand rediculous fees £5/6m would be a fair price

  • nicktheyid says:

“scouts put redknapp off louis suarez” the manager should have bigger bollox or the scouts are shit!steven pienar is good but suarez isnt?????

    • MysteriousStranger says:

Nothing to do with Harry having larger ones. Just everything to do with, when it goes wrong, he has a long list of excuses at the ready. Which speak volumes regarding his character.

    • Ronnie says:

The “scouts” advised him to focus his time on getting Phillip Neville.

Same “scouts” have told him to get rid of Kranjcar and Lennon and bring in Joe Cole and the leg-breaking Adams.

BTW, for “scouts” read Jamie Redknapp

      • SpurredoninDublin says:

On the subject of scouts, if we are looking for a long term GK, we could do a lot worse than look at some of the GK’s playing Gaelic Football and Hurling in Ireland.

For those of you who think I’m crazy, both Shay Given and Pat Jennings played Gaelic. More to the point, these are amateurs and there would be no transfer fees to pay. There would not be much to lose, but there is a good chance that the scouts might be able to take four or five prospects for trials, and if only one of them makes it, we would more than get our money back.
