Good Morning,
From left field or certainly les transferts.com at least comes the news that Tottingham Hotspurs have made enquiries for Mounir El Hamdaoui. Hang on H, isn’t that…?
Yep. The man that never was.
A funny old game indeed Saint. Mo’ signed for Spurs under the auspices of BMJ in 2005. But never played a Premier League game. I confess I had to look him up. He featured in the Peace Cup. He apparently scored in friendlies against Northampton Town and Aldershot Town and not lonf after was loaned out to Derby County for his sins.
Leaving Spurs like many before him was the best thing to happen him. A season with Eridivisie’s Willem II and then his current home Ajax have generated 63 goals in 106 appearances.
Now you know I’m not Statty, but even I found it interesting to look at what all these goals amounted to. Well he was top scorer in the Eridivisie in 2008-2009 and the man to beat him to that spot the following season was a bloke called Luis Suarez.
At first glance a rumour perhaps to induce groans, but I’ve been emotionally scarred by those Leandro clips and would happily give Mo’ a second look based on his Dutch form.
Special thanks to highly esteemed reader, RalphCoatesHair for sending in this little gem. A thing of beauty. Ralph wants to know what the trophy in the foreground is. First correct answer wins a lock of Terry Venables’ hair (still attached to his head).
European Cup Winners Cup. Another first.
Spurs 5 – 1 Atletico Madrid, right?
Nice work chaps. Quality little pic shared by RalphCoatesHair there. Thank you :daumen:

Not even in jest must one mention Winterburn and Dave Mackay. COYLW.
Cup’s were so much more elegant and understated in the old days.
