Morning my dears.

Today was always going to be about the fixture list for the new season. Our full list is of course available to view on the official Barclays Premiership site HERE.

The image is courtesy of @The_GunsaMucha To the best of my knowledge, it is not photoshopped.

everton, city and the poo at home with utd away in between, nothing like easing into the season

i love the massive transfer merry go round in the rags today that starts off with an un levy like £35m luka to the chavs and visits all things bright and beautiful in europe and ends up with us outside the pikey gates picking up parker for £4m,haha priceless

i can’t believe anyone really thinks levy will sell modric to the chavs,l mean it would have to be an incredible bid and the arabs will pay more anyway, levy would need to hire an armoured pc for the season to travel to work if he sells our prize assets to the chavs,do journo’s know about tottenham and chelsea not the best of chums on a very good day

We have to play ’em all anyway, why not try them out while they are finding their feet, yanited have been slow starters a couple of times in the last few years.

As for Modders, we look like we might be willing to sell after all; the reasons I think that are twofold. Firstly Harry took the premise of the question when talking about Luka’s value…..he questioned the amount, NOT the sale itself. Secondly, if DL was fixed on holding Modric, he’d publicly announce that any further bids or attempts to prize loose the player will be reported to the League as illegal player tapping.

DL has said he’s not for sale but anything is for sale at the right price; 40 mill? Maybe.

However, one must also look at Modric’s comments in context; what was the question? At school we played switcheroo with answers assigned to different questions and the hacks seem singularly reluctant to print the question that Luka responded to.

I have a few fears, but these are also reasons why I think we will hold our nerve. If we sell to any rival (top6) we are signalling surrender and both HR and DL should be shot for cowardice. If we sell Modric, we will almost certainly be overwhelmed with bids for Bale, then Sandro, then Kyle, etc etc. If we sell Modric we will disenfranchise a generation of fans, all tomorrows punters for shirts, merchandise, seaon tickets etc.

As a club we will not go anywhere if we sell key players, standing still in the football world is actually going backwards. We will also truly confim that we are fair targets for the press to run the club with rumour and inuendo and that we will sell our mothers for her gold teeth. We will be telling old red nose in capitals, that we’ll let him cherry pick our side anytime he chooses and even maybe pick up the cab fare.

If we let him go to the chavs or citeh or yanited, I may be compelled to do an open letter number on DL and HR…..it will not be pretty!

Good post, and all the speculation about how we may or may not perform in the first six fixtures is meaningless when we don’t even know what players Old Redders will have at his disposal and more importantly whether or not they are fit and turn up.

It could be a brilliant start or a dismal failure with 2 from 6 T shirts selling like hot cakes. :shifty:

I don’t think DL or Arry want to sell him. We don’t need the money and what will 40 or 50 million buy you ? And who is the ‘next’ Modric anyway?

The fact is that the power is with the player. If Modders wants to stay he’ll stay and if he wants to go he’ll be sold to the highest bidder. Simple as.

Thus far he’s shown loyalty and dignity and whilst anything can happen, right now I feel he wants to remain in N17.

      EXACTLY…….

Hope you dont have to resort to the open letter.I cant believe they would let our best players go at this stage of the game ,that could set us back ten years before the fans would ever trust anyone again.let alone the schmucks signal to all and sundry.

  • kenny powers says:

lets hope everton have the usual shit start then, was more interested in the run in and looks alright so long as we dont make the same mistakes as last season by drawing or losing to the bottom six.
    bring it on
