Jay Bothroyd

If that didn’t get your attention then arguably little will. I could weep.

And a very ‘good morning to you’, too.

Jamie Bothroyd’s name has been cropping up with alarming regularity of late and slowly slowly it is beginning to emerge that this tale has legs. Which sounds like something Sid Trotter would say or at least Gerald Scarfe would draw.

And now a chap on Spurs Community, with the username of CorlukaModric says that Bothroyd is training with Sir Ledley King at David Lloyd in Finchley.

Championship sure shooter Bothroyd has been linked with a host of second string outfits. QPR, Celtic and Everton. And now us! Cynics, naysayers and disgruntled whipper uppers will tell you that this is a typical Arry signing. Little to base this on in truth, other than the fact the boy speaks English fluently and has displayed a healthy work ethic.

He’d be on a free of course and perhaps, cheap to feed. But where would we be heading here? Is this Frasier Dumbell 2.0? An argument might be made that if he could be signed and scored half a dozen goals between now and Christmas that in the Mental Asylum of the Premiership he could suddenly be worth £10M come Christmas Day.

My view is we have a squad the size of the Moscow State Circus and as many hangers on as their high wire act. I’d rather we culled a few of our minor celebs before getting ‘punts’ like Bothroyd in.

Optimistic to say the least! I was a little frustrated like any lillywhites out there at the fact we didnt get champs league, but was a little excited for this years transfer market knowing it would be time to cut out the dead wood PSB, bentley, nancy boy (jenas), etc and would have to make some big signings to ‘get amongst it’ so to speak.
At this point i digress! So far i have been less than impressed with all dealings in transfers, and especially diasappointed with all our links as far as paper talk is concerned. Levy knows he is going to have to spend big this summer anyway no matter who we sell, so why is he not making some movement to show ambition and keep our ‘Big guns’ interested and wanting to stay and show we are a big team? All this promise and talk from ‘Arry about building a team not destroying it, and we are being linked with players who wouldnt be fit for our reserves as far as pushing for silverware and challengine for the epl is concerned! Is there anyone out there that can give me some hope as to where this is all leading?

I think I’m the best qualified here in the hope department, so I’m glad to help:

No decent players will be bought because no one is stupid enough to buy our deadwood for what Levy wants.

Redknapp will struggle to pick the players back up after his failure to qualify for the CL – a man can’t manage on BS alone forever.

After a poor start in the league, Luka will strop his way to the January window where he will move to Chelsea after threatening to strike. Of course, no new signings will be made.

We will visit some unpronounceable places where no one will ever want to go back.

After being knocked out of the ‘Loser League’ on penalties, Spurs season will peter out to nothing, but Redknapp’s season will just be reaching its climax. A media propaganda campaign of a scale not seen since the Third Reich, will see Redknapp crowned England boss.

Our best players will then leave, then a new dawn will start over again, and again, and again….

Could do for Modric what Andy Booth did for Sol Campbell.

Don’t rate Rossi at all – certainly not at the money quoted – not Prem standard. The main problem with the 4 strikers at Spurs is the lack of service from midfield and wingers.
What we need is a striker with a proven record in the Premiership. Two options – that old Bulgarian hanging out in Manchester….or….Amir Zaki. I’m so fed up of the long ball to Crouch game.
What went off the rails for Chelsea last season was the reduced amount of goals from midfield from Lampard. Solution – midfielder who pings in goals – Krancjar. Well impressed when he scored against Bolton and Sunderland. Krancjar to Chelsea for 12 mill….or…maybe we can figure out a way to use his goalscoring talents.

Not true old bean. Against Blackpool away we created 25 goal attempts and scored one and at home to the Hammers we created well over 30 and couldn’t convert any. It was the same most of the season, our strikers are not worthy of the name.

Agreed. making the chances wasn’t the problem it was sticking them in. Our usual combo up front was “cows arse and banjo”
