Good morning lynch mob members,

I trust we’ve someone one with strong rope and another with at least directions to a stout tall tree. Although it needn’t be to tall…

Via the highly esteemed COYS and sourced as being Tweeted by one Irish journo, Ken Early we have some interesting depressing ‘quotes’ from two of our brave boys after the Republic Of Debt played The Croatianists.

Here’s the audio: http://audioboo.fm/boos/436439-modric-ireland-mixed-zone-august-9

IRL mixed zone reporter: “Can you stay sharp if you don’t get game time for Spurs?”

Robbie Keane: “How’d you know I won’t?” *awkward silence*

Modric on Chelsea move: “Idon’t want to talk about it. I said a lot of things before and things are still the same… still waiting.”

reporter: “Will you be happy if you’re still a Spurs player on September 1?” Modric: *grinning* “See you.”

On PSB there’s little to say, little in fact worth saying. He’s like that character in The Full Monty who was made redundant 6 weeks ago but still kisses his wife goodbye in the morning before frittering away his day between libraries and sitting in the park.

On Modric there can be two possible conclusions.

The first is that he has a serious Chicken Badge allergy and the second is that he has another gentleman’s agreement speech in the pipeline. This time bleating that Levy assured him of a big name or two before the window closes. A statement of intent to match his commitment for honouring his contract.

Either way, I’ve had more positive starts to a day. I think the obvious trick here would be for Modric to make a statement that he’s committed to the our money the cause for at least another season.

Gives the lads another week off at least after internationals and VDV a chance to get himself fit and hopefully Gallas too. Might see a few more first teamers feature against Hearts now to get them some match time before our first game. What couldve been a winning start and 3 points at home against Everton could now be lost by the time we play them it could be fitted into a tough week and they might have up a head of steam.

See Redknapp getting his excuses in early saying if we dont play on Saturday (which we’re now not) then it makes it difficult for us. Thats the spirit Arry :|

Not wishing to move the discussion away from Spurs but we are doing a damn sight better than Greece, Spain or Italy………anyway my view on it is this……….

Redknapp wants the England job and has been grooming himself and to an extent the Spurs squad in anticipation of getting it. That is the only excuse for the existence of Crouch, Defoe, Jenas, Bentley etc anywhere near the squad.

It looks like the conservative nature of the board have stymied another transfer window where the obvious purchases should have been made come hell or high water.

One last point, PSB as he is called here works his backside off. Problem is he is paid to score and not work his backside off. He has lost the scoring touch for a couple of seasons largely because ‘Arry has preferred his “favourites” above him and hasn’t got game time, but also because he just is older and less reactive.

His lack of goals deserves a ton of criticism. His work rate and enthusiasm in comparison to say Crouch and Defoe doesn’t.

So what is it you want? Work rate or goals?

I see plenty of people castigating Modric because he might do a Vulgar Bulgar on us, but PSB begged to be allowed to leave us to play for his “boyhood” team and had his part to play in the “2 from 8”.

Keane is a has been that was soon found out when he didn’t have someone setting him up. With the benefit of hindsight, I can confiidently say the best bit of business we ever did in the transfer market was when we robbed the bindippers for £20 mill. Unfortunately, we must have developed a conscience, because we gave them a £12mill refund.

He preferred otheres so much he made Notso captain on his return! Notso didn’t repay that confidence (probably because he has lost all his in front of goal). He now has the worst first touch out of all our strikers – and thats saying something.

  • Spurfect says:

Get that Christian Eirksen in say i! Looks a sprakler :daumen:

  • SpurredoninDublin says:

Throughout all this, I haven’t seen much in the way of comment about the relative parsimony of the Chelsea offer.

Looking at the Marquee signings in the last window, (Dzeko, Torres, Suarez and Carrol) I think Modric has to be worth a minimum of £35 mill. In the past Chelsea have splashed the cash like a drunken sailor on his last night of shore leave in a Thai Brothel, but have made an offer which is more commensurate with a good player, rather than the class of Modric.

Could it be that what we are witnessing, is the beginning of FFPR beginning to bite?

    Corking opening question, not.

Modric on Chelsea move: “I don’t want to talk about it. I said a lot of things before and things are still the same… still waiting.”

Another gem; In short the ‘journalists’ in question having done the difficult bit and obtained face-time with two high-profile players during the transfer window came away with no useable quotes, other than: “still waiting.” For what, the start of the season, his redirected post, a bus? Hence why it was only deemed fit to tweet and not print/report. I bet these two (who posed such killer questions) were popular the other journos.
