The End Is Nigh

Guten Morgen,

It gave me little pleasure to have my old oppo Arseblogger confirming that Arsenal Football Club have officially ceased trading, knocked the football lark on the head and gone into the pork belly business after yesterday’s game.

Arsenal were disappointing last season. They suffered humiliation at the hands of the now relegated Brum in a Cup Final. But they still delivered their supporters Champions League football – yet again.

Apparently the usually tranquil Emptycrates was finally ringing with the sound of thousands. Booing. Easy to say, ‘so what? because it’s them, but this is appears to be yet another good indication that Pop is indeed well on its way to Eating Itself.

I know writing this that a vast percentage are mentally switching off in droves. All you want is the name of the striker. Just give us the name or delete the blog – it’s no use without the name. But it’s you snide, shiftless, squinty eyed and soulless lizards that I’m barking on about.

Defoe was booed at Milton Keynes last week. I went to Milton Keynes once. Everybody I was with hadn’t been there before either. All we knew was the place had been ‘made from scratch” about year before and that there were replica cows made of concrete – rumoured to be there to encourage real cows to take up residence in what was previously just a wasteland.

The booing is a  manifestation of unreciprocated emotional investment. Which is to say, fans declaring their support, but then the players failing to beat everybody 5-0 as a thank you.

This smacks of immaturity and an absence of perspective.

So where am I going with this you ask? We covered booing the other week and we’ve certainly covered it before. Where I am going is that I kindda wish that the Murdoch Empire had not just had a few billion knocked off it’s share price, but been put in Intensive Care. That the corporation had gone into meltdown and the money that so noisely slops about the game – overnight whistled and gurgled down the drain.

‘When we buying Rossi?’  replaced with, ‘where you watching the game?‘. ‘Harry out!’ replaced with, ‘Our defense needs to work on corners.’

Yes, we all want more and we all want better, but if fans don’t get a check of themselves their seats at games would be better filled with replica fans. Make them of fibre glass or concrete, it’s all the same to me. They’ll be better company than all too many of the existing whiners.

Your pal, H.

I think that Joe Lewis needs to pump some of his money in to Spurs. It has shown that the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool and some others owe the banks millions, however they seem to be able to spend big. Yes Levy has done a good job at balancing the books. Wage caps are a good idea, however what will this get you, either an over-aged player who only get in to teams due to their name. Youngsters we have at the lane, however without giving them a real good run in the side, they will never reach the potential that the club saw to give them a contract or to but from other teams. Since Harry came to the club, he has turned some fortunes around. There are big questions when it comes to some players at the club. Why can Santos play superbly for Mexico and other European teams and he just can’t play under Harry. This was also the case for O’Hara, Tarabt and many more youngsters. Is the problem with Harry or maybe Clive Allen? You see the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and now Man Utd now playing their young stars why can’t we? This would save some money! However the joke which we call the strikers needs addressing. Crouch probably missed more chances to score than the rest of the Premirships other strikers put together! Defoe seems like his confidence was drained out of him. Keane as never been the same since his return from Liverpool and poor old Pav, he tries so hard, maybe he’s trying to hard and this is affecting his game. Another problem is the Modric affair. I think Chelsea should be investigated in to, especially for tapping up players. They are so guilty and the FA needs to show everyone else that this is not allowed. Dock them the same points as other teams in lower divisions. Dock them 10 points and this will then stop other teams from doing the same. I think that if we are not in the top 5 or 6 by Christmas then the changes should begin. Harry I think can’t think big, excellent mam to man manager, when it comes to dealing in the transfer Market, unfortunately he still thinks that he is in a small club and this will not change. Levy is one he’ll of a business man, however he needs to be more bold and this will help Spurs move forward. The official owner of Spurs, or majority holder should either give Spurs some money to compete with the other clubs. If he doesn’t, then Spurs will always be a feeder club to the clubs who have owners who will back the clubs they own. Another alternative is maybe getting a very, very rich owner who SUPPORTS Spurs and is willing to put their money in to the club and to make sure of old days of the Glory, Glory Nights and Days at the lane. That’s my opinion, others may say load of rubbish, others may agree with some or most of what I have wrote. If you cut me open, I’m Spurs through and through and I just want the best for the club, just as others who have expressed their opinions on here. Whatever happens we are all wanting the same, SUCCESS. Here’s hopefully to a great season, C’MON YE SPURS!!!!

    guys, enough of this.

We are going nowhere – plain and simple.

Our manager is leaving in a year, we habe no stikers and we can’t compete with teams like sunderland in the transfer market.

I’m seriously concerned about the season ahead now! what the hell is there to look forward to, tell me? I’m all ears???
