Trading Standards Set To Swoop On Redschnapps

Good morning.

I was looking forward to last night. Judging by the size of the crowd at The Lane I was not alone in my enthusiasm. Judging but the largely silent home support and mass exodus before the final whistle I wasn’t alone in being bored senseless by the first stage production of SNES’ Sensible Soccer On Ice.

It was contemptuous of all concerned that we were served up a reserves game. I’ve only watched one before and this was pretty much identical. Chase ball at lickerty split and barely a brain cell on the premises.

I’m not anti these kids, but having them inflicted on me for a UEFA game isn’t on.

I’m partial to a fish finger sandwich. But if I go to a restaurant and am presented with one when I’ve ordered the lobster I don’t think I’m being unreasonable asking the waiter if it’s a windup.

I challenge anyone who thinks I’m being harsh to explain how the atmosphere amongst Spurs in attendance was so rank and what was with all the empty seats? Did everyone suddenly remember they left the gas on?

Hearts made seven changes themselves and can take a hit while we’re at it. They also played a second rate mob compared to the game fielded at Tynecastle. By rights, Hearts fans should be mailed a refund inc. travel etc.Their only saving grace was the fact they we also ran out our Clearasil Kids.

You want player ratings? Everyone gets a solid 1 for managing to put their shirts on the right way round. I’d rather eat photocopier toner than watch another game like that. Unmitigated toss.

parker is shite, big fish in a small pond, he will be found out at spurs, just as he was at chavski, injury prone no resale value poncy clogger, that cunt would sell modders and replace him with mongboy cole and parker, triffic? redcunt out

  • LLL says:

Not against Parker so long as we don’t get Cole too. That would be too much.

However, if this were to happen, we’d be better off:

    Jenas out – Parker in
    Palacios out – Diarra in

Think most people would agree there’s improvement there, and the noise on Diarra rumbles on in spite of what he apparently said yesterday.

Still, we do need a CB, and to be rid of Bassong I think.

On similar lines to above, you could argue that Cole might be an upgrade on Bentley. But I’d prefer to argue that since we never play Bentley, we don’t actually need him, and hence don’t need to replace him. And just for the love of God, please don’t let Harry buy Cole.

Either way, looks like Spurs have finally woken up in the transfer window…

    • Mr_Spiggott says:

Yes – we’re trying desperately to keep a midfielder.

We are talking to West Ham about a midfielder.

We have got another midfielder on loan from Juventus.

Oh…and we’re trying to sign a midfielder from Real Madrid.

Oooooooooh we’re cooking on gas now baby

      • LLL says:

Compared to yesterday morning when all we had was Diarra saying ‘fuck that’ and Harry talking about inventing a time machine to make Joe Cole 11 years old again, we are starting to bubble perhaps, yeah.

        • Mr_Spiggott says:

Yup. We knocked 5 past hearts and everything was all right.

All right until we played Man U and had 51% first half possession only because we ran it all the way to their box then passed it all the way back to Dawson – repeat to fade (which we did).

Oh….and Pav had a strike at Hearts at our place.

Yep. All is well up front. Bubble away.

        • LLL says:

Mm. I think you are arguing with someone else. I said that Spurs were finally doing something in the transfer window. You reply that we were shit against Utd. Well, that’s me told.

        • Mr_Spiggott says:

          That’d be a first

        • LLL says:

          Yeah…

          What..?

        • Mr_Spiggott says:

LLL….let’s not go down the “goadrage” route.

We could either skip 8 posts and call each other a nazi or remember it’s banter and any frustration I have is aimed at the lack of goals coming from our current crop of strikers.

In with anger – out with love

        • LLL says:

I wasn’t getting angry, just genuinely confused.

Lack of goals? Well, you can trust Scotty Parker and Diarra to knock in 2-3 goals and one or two assists between them over the course of a season. If you add that to the 2-3 from Modric now that he might be staying we really will be banging them in soon.

BTW saw Harry’s comments on City and Barcelona, apparently City’s squad is man for man far superior. He’s probably never heard of most of Barcelona’s players. I guess.

        • Mr_Spiggott says:

I’ll have a wild stab and say he didn’t refer to them as “far superior” but “top top players”.

          Man’s a loon.

  • Mr_Spiggott says:

I’m not going to work today as my head just isn’t right.

I will look forward to my wages being paid as normal though.

  • LosLorenzo says:

As MS said, farce is the right word for the whole stadium situation. I’m glad that Levy now seems to be making the most of a terrible situation, though.

Legal actions or no, the Parker deal might be a good fit for both clubs. I’m surprised and pleased that the porn barons aren’t throwing spanners in the works of this deal for the sake of their wounded pride. Then again, maybe that is precisely their plan – let us believe we have him, then pull the plug at the last minute.

I think Parker would be a good fit for us too. Not one for the future, but we have plenty of youth already, and we saw how that went yesterday. A side with Gallas, Parker and Adebayor forming the spine is not one that will be bullied out of games easily. Time and again we lose the plot in games when things don’t go exactly according to plan. A seasoned head in midfield might be just the ticket.

As for last night, I only saw the last 20 minutes. Pav looked to be trying WAY too hard. I have seen more clinical finishing from wheelchair bound pensioners.

Anyone who paid 40 squid has a right to be disappointed. But if ever there was a game to field a youthful side, this was it. You can’t please everyone all the time.

  • Mr_Spiggott says:

Is it only me or are we less “wingy” and more “kick it up the park” this season ?

We don’t seem to have serviced the strikers in the last two games ?

Perhaps we need a midfielder :dizzy2:
