Trading Standards Set To Swoop On Redschnapps

Good morning.

I was looking forward to last night. Judging by the size of the crowd at The Lane I was not alone in my enthusiasm. Judging but the largely silent home support and mass exodus before the final whistle I wasn’t alone in being bored senseless by the first stage production of SNES’ Sensible Soccer On Ice.

It was contemptuous of all concerned that we were served up a reserves game. I’ve only watched one before and this was pretty much identical. Chase ball at lickerty split and barely a brain cell on the premises.

I’m not anti these kids, but having them inflicted on me for a UEFA game isn’t on.

I’m partial to a fish finger sandwich. But if I go to a restaurant and am presented with one when I’ve ordered the lobster I don’t think I’m being unreasonable asking the waiter if it’s a windup.

I challenge anyone who thinks I’m being harsh to explain how the atmosphere amongst Spurs in attendance was so rank and what was with all the empty seats? Did everyone suddenly remember they left the gas on?

Hearts made seven changes themselves and can take a hit while we’re at it. They also played a second rate mob compared to the game fielded at Tynecastle. By rights, Hearts fans should be mailed a refund inc. travel etc.Their only saving grace was the fact they we also ran out our Clearasil Kids.

You want player ratings? Everyone gets a solid 1 for managing to put their shirts on the right way round. I’d rather eat photocopier toner than watch another game like that. Unmitigated toss.

If I were Investec, I would be asking some serious questions of DL.

Example: Why are we paying £5 Million a year for you to put out this rubbish?

There are those amongst us, who can’t wait for us to be knocked out of this comp, because they see it as a distraction to our real objective, which is to qualify for the CL, and I have this to say to them: Not being in the EL hardly helped us for years before that when we failed to get into the CL.

From what I have seen over the past twelve months or so, our problem is no longer transfer fees, but wages. Potentially (and not including replays) we have 29 cup games this season. If half of those are at home, including prize money and Investec, we might potentially earn £35 mill from cup runs. Nearly all of this is money to the bottom line.

I have no problem once a tie is secure, to blood a kid or give them a bit of experience.

Watching Harry Kane, it was good to see him get his first team debut at last, but I saw nothing about him that suggested he would ever keep JD, PAV, or 3MP out of the team based on ability. Based on this one match, I’d have to say another false dwan.

i thought young harry kane played quite well considering it’s he’s first game for the team and in front of the home fans, will get better as he matures, cant judge him on just one game but what do i know.

I don’t necessarily make you wrong, but what I saw told me why he was being loaned out to Orient.

As far as I know, he did not set the world on fire when he played for them, though he scored a few goals whilst there (5 in 18 games). PSB scored a lot of goals for Celtic, and I still think, he became rubbish in the end, but I still think he is better than HK.

In case you want to argue that he lacks experience PSB was in his third season as a regular first team player by the time he was HK’s age.

The one thing I would say in his favour, is that it is difficult to impress in what is effectively a makeshift team that does not play together regularly. At the moment his has a strike rate that is about the same as 3MP, but 3MP is playing at a higher grade.

Agreed — bit harsh on Kane as he really wasn’t getting the service. At least he realised this himself and started dropping deeper to get more involved. Like Townsend he needs to go out on loan again this season, hopefully to a second tier outfit.

Thought Carroll looked really good for a 14 year old.
Kane, hyped up on many Spurs message boards didn’t look much
Bassong looked really bad even against shite opposition
    Krancjar is a class act

Apart from that I was yawning for most of the second half

You would have thought that maybe some first team players could do with a bit of match practice? The squad seems ragged after one game

  • SpurredoninDublin says:

Whatever happened at Stratford, the chances of DL being charged, let alone convicted, are remote.

  • Sir Cecil says:

I see Levy is being investigated by the police over the Stratford affair. And isn’t Harry’s tax evasion trial soon? They have too much on their minds to worry about whether they are serving up dross for the fans.
