Me again.

Two bits of nice news. The first is that I’ve had it confirmed that Sir Ledders is being assessed for the Norf Landan Darby™ today and it is thought he will be fit and ready to participate on Sunday.

To this extent his web chat on Twitter will be slightly delayed and should now kick off about 1330hrs today.

Ledley King will appear before fans to give his opinions on the match and the 2011 / 12 Barclays Premier League so far. Fans can submit questions to the defender in advance (now) via the Barclays Football Facebook page and the Barclays Footy Twitter account, using the hashtag #AskLedley as well as live during the interview today.

The best questions will be put to Sir Ledders Of  King, giving fans the chance to interact live with our Club Captain.

If you miss the chance to watch Ledley King live, the full interview will be available on the Barclays Football You Tube channel from Friday afternoon.

Townsend has played reasonably well against poor opposition.

Azza is often criticised for his final ball when he actually creates loads of chances over a season (besides scoring a few) and always causes problems to defences with his pace. If Lennon is fit I cannot see any sane reason in replacing him with Townsend.

For years now I’ve been on Azza’s side. And still my heart is in his corner. But it was in South Africa that the head started butting in.

Fact is that even before he came to us, for all the positives, the one repeated caveat was “if only.” He had the speed and the guile, if only he knew how to finish things off, if only he had a better shot, if only he crossed the ball accurately, etc. In South Africa a new “if only” emerged, one that had to do with being willing to run at the defences and force them to back off, to make errors, to double/triple on him so that there was space to project the killer pass. My heart said he’s not fit, etc. but the head said how long is it going to be for it all to come together.

It is still asking the question. Much to the dismay of my heart.

Over the years that I’ve watched football, wingers are the biggest mystery to me. It’s rare a winger can sustain consistency, especially when bursting on the scene with a flourish. Giggs is possibly the exception, but history will tell you that more fade away at a reletivly young age, sometimes through injury but mostly because they’ve ‘lost it’. Peter Barnes, Tony Daly and Ruel Fox are a few names off the top, but few ever come back. Lennon if you recall was in a slump before HR came in and bounced back accordingly. But he was dreadful on Thurs and maybe he needs a change of scenary to regain the impudus once more?

I don’t mind Azza being in, but I’d want Charlie at RB if he does. Azza fades out when backed by an attacking FB.

Hope HR does not stick VDV on the RW on Sunday as he never stays there and he will leave Walker exposed.
If Lennon is/ was fit I would go with him at RW, which probably means Sandro is on the bench with either VDV or Defoe.
We are going forward, Scum are going backwards so we should win. If only it was that simple!

  • seattlespursguy says:

    Brad
    Charles, Ledders, Bull, BAE
    Azza, Parker, Luka, Baler
    JD, Ade

    VDV as a game changer.

  • Steveo1987 says:

Defoe and Ade up front for me. I think Defoe played Thursday as a fitness test and he came though with flying colours. VDV can sit on the bench, if he gets the hump, well, so what.

  • Hartley says:

Lennon was the worst player last night by a country mile and I’m including the part timers in that statement. What is most frustrating with him, is the fact that he has everything in his locker but seems to have lost the key…
Keep him, stick him on the bench and throw him on for impact when the opposition have tired. Tis the only way to build the confidence back, he has shown for England that if you put someone ahead of him, rather than fight for his place, he does the opposite…..I would play Defoe and Ade up front with VDV in a free roll behind, Bale, Modric and Parker in the middle and encourage Walker to push on with cover from King and Parker…

He was playing with an injury.

      • Hartley says:

Has he been playing with an injury for the best part of 3 years, because in that time he has failed to impress for 95% of the time?

        • onedavemackay says:

He may have failed to impress you but all the Spurs supporters I know would say he occasionally misfires but mostly delivers. He terrifies most defenders especially “the best left back in the world” old King Cole and frankly only Bale can cause the sort of pandemonium Azza does.

        • onedavemackay says:

Just discovered that in season 2009-10 Azza was joint 6th on the Prem assists table with 10

        • Hartley says:

Bloody hell! Those are amazing stats for a winger…. He didn’t make any away at Real Madrid though did he? or against ar5ena1 the other time he bottled it because he felt ‘ a likkle bik under the wever’ . I spoke to Terry Dyson ( THE Terry Dyson) the day after Madrid away, who was disgusted with him and he asked me the following; can you imagine Dave Mackay pulling out of a game like that even with a fracture? Bill would have had to nail him down to the bench to keep him off the field….But then again, there was only one Dave Mackay :shifty:

        • frontwheel 2 says:

          Wow you know Terry Dyson,zzzzzzz
