Levy & Co Give Bond Villains Green Light

Good morning.

Levy & Co have announced their intentions to de-list THFC from the Alternative Investment Market. So what does this actually mean? If I could predict the future I’d be tipperty tapping this on my yacht. But I’ll give you my interpretation at what’s shaking.

First up I’ll guess that most of you reading this either own no shares (like me) or a token ‘one’ for souvenir purposes. Well you have two choices here. You can keep the certificate as permanent souvenir forever – it is after all yours, or you can effectively sell it back to THFC. The costs of trading one or a very small quantity of shares may prove prohibitive, so the Club are nobly effecting the Nil Cost Dealing Facility which does what it says on the tin. This will run from November 21st to January 11th.

The de-listing requires in excess of 75% of the share holders to vote in favour of doing so. This will happen.

So why is this happening? In simple terms the Board have made an intelligent decision as it knows the immediate future of the business is going to be shall we say quite dynamic financially. The Stock Market has been as flat as roadkill for some time and after what I would imagine were protracted discussions with potential investors the decision to allow the Board greater flexibility in negotiations was made.

What now? Well in simple terms this move makes the takeover by Bond villains far, far easier. The club is financially stable, but isn’t in a position to charge ahead with the NPD under its own steam. The good news is obvious. Tottingham Hotspur are a good bet for the future both on the pitch and in the Boardroom. The brand has massive value. The potential is equally massive, but the launch of a new stadium project just needs that extra boost to make it happen.

So, not only is he a cheat but it’s also looking likely he’s a racist as well. Anyone on here still think we should have signed this wanker?

Yep – I’d still take him in a heartbeat, Kev… he scored FOUR goals for Uruguay in a WC qualifier against Chile, on Friday (and Chile are no mugs…)

He certainly knows how to draw a foul out of a defender, I’ll give you that, but we could iron out any other wrinkles…

…I think his ability to lead the line and scare the life out of defenders is second to none & he’s still only 23-24.

As for the racist stuff, I am led to believe that the word he used was “negrito” – if you’ve been brought up in multi-cultural, english-speaking UK you’d automatically regard that as a racist derivative of the word “negro”.

However, South American Spanish is a far more descriptive language than English, particularly when it comes to describing people – if you’re overweight, people will openly refer to you by your description: you’ll be “gordo” (“fat”) or more affectionately “gordito” (“fatty”); if you’re bald, “pelado/pelao” (“baldy”).

“Negro” is the Spanish word for the colour “black”, but used descriptively of a person it is a far softer term, especially with the suffix “-ito” – it’s quite tricky to translate, but it would be something along the lines of “little black fella”.

You and I would STILL regard that as a “racist” term, as it includes a reference to colour.

However, I think it’s pretty tricky to impose our cultural background & history directly onto Suarez.

Having said all that, he’s playing in England and he should be aware of what he can & can’t say, no matter what may be acceptable back in Uruguay. He needs to be “re-educated” but probably not “locked up” IMHO.

ps the last England to score FOUR goals in a competitive match against decent opposition (ie not San Marino or Cyprus)

This explanation of the Suarez situation could well be true,as I live in the Bahamas and driving through the local districts the locals regularly call out to me ” eh white boy gimme job pleeaase Iysa carpentah” I work with haitin workers and we discuss football etc and they are shocked to hear a white man can be taken to court for calling a black man black in Britain.. they are descriptive in their language as a fat man is called the big belly man. Or if your cranium is large “big head man” or worse if you are ugly you is the ogly man/woman” they dont mean anything by it but to desribe who you are .Me myself is called Boss man. They call each other ‘bwoy” all the time and means nothing. The word nigga to me is offensive because of my culture /background but to them they use it like we would say this geezer this or that geezer that.
That is if your roots are that of an eloquent native of Londinium or Londonistan as it is now known throughout the world.
I wonder how much longer we will be able to discuss stuff like this freely on interweb blogs before the pc jobsworth start to police our language. How will we be able to vent our vitriol to describe gooner scumbags and chavskis, spammers of the pikey variety etc and mancs et al.Twitchy, trout chops ,tall circus boy etc. HH would be the first before the beak as the leader of this blog for his “facelikeakicked in fridge” or the latest for dog terry walnut face.I dont think felching and TMWNN,what about Mus you know thats just how he talks.Wont be far behind him when they track them down ,we might have to have a defence counsel whip round. :cwy: :shifty:

My understanding of the situation is that Suarez used this word repeatedly. His defence that, to him, the word isn’t offensive, would carry far more weight if, once it became apparent how offensive it was to Evra, he stopped using it. He didn’t. Therefore one can only surnmise that this odious little twat is stupid at best and racist at worst and the whole ‘lost in translation’ argument is little more than a smokescreen.

        • Alspur says:

Hmmm… I know what you’re saying, but I’m not sure that it necessarily follows that Suarez is a racist…

If he called Evra “shorty” and could see that that wound Evra up, he would probably keep repeating it (based on the fact that footballers have all the sophistication of the schoolyard).

If he didn’t believe his original use of the word was racist, he wouldn’t think his repetition of the word was racist, just that it wound Evra up…

  • david says:

Why don’t all us readers of this excellent blog chip in and buy the club ? I have £20 in my back pocket to get the ball rolling.
I see Suarez has been charged for alleged racist remarks to Evra.
Maybe Terry will get done as well.

I’ve got a couple of white fivers and a ten bob note if that’s any good.

  • Delovely says:

Suarez is an odiuos little man who still carries a chip on his for his parents inability to pay for decent remedial dental work. May he disappear from the EPL asap.
