Curiouser And Curiouser

Good evening.

Curious ain’t the half of it. Only Professor Stephen Hawking and Margaret Thatcher pairinbg up on Strictly Come Dancing could have possibly dropped more points than the Premiership ‘big boys’ did today.

Fulham haven’t been playing convincing at all this season yet this lot are suddenly overachieving  footballing warriors who can waltz into Second Hand Fridge and nick a point before tea time.

Manchester City up until this morning were a handing out jolly good hidings  like Mario Balotelli was handing out twenty pound notes. Yet West Brom, possibly one of the dullest football teams ever devised by man – managed to successfully muffle them.

Liverpool have admittedly been carrying Andy Carroll about like a damp sack of cement in human form all season. But Blackburn are so godawful even they have fewer points/reasons to continue trading than Bolton Wanderers. Yet they too audaciously swooped into Afield and grab a point.

Meanwhile, the mighty Tottingham are still third and still with that increasingly valuable game  in hand. Wow.  And our next three fixtures in apple pie order are Norwich(A), Swansea (A) and West Brom (H).

To try and construct some comparative analysis between our next games and other team’s next three would be not just tricky but actually insane. However what we do know is that football form is self propelling beast. Just ask Owen Coyle.

If we can add another 9 points to ‘the haul’ so far – which we really ought to – then the momentum should keep us securely in the top four for a good while yet.

Happy Christmas so far, anyway.

Where are they now, former Spurs players, says Razspur.

I watched the first half of the Stoke game partly because I wanted to nail down if I could what went wrong with us at Britannia, and also to keep a look out for Palacios and Woodie and Crouchie. Well the first was still in the sad form he showed at the end with us – not poor but ordinary. The second did a fair job at RB. Good with his head and at the tackle. Does he play regularly? If so, he could have helped us. Crouchie was not there and the blasphemous thought occurred that his absence made a difference!

Am I right in the head? Don’t all pile on.

We(the club) keep going on about how strong the squad is, but to be honest i havnt seen much rotation of it. When Bale hasnt played, VDV or modders plays left when the excuse for keeping krankie out the team is that Bale has been in good form. The last two games, parker has looked knackered. This Norwich game, is the type of game andros townsend or the like would do well in. We do seem to have this fear factor for lesser sides, its like we dont know how to win sometimes.

The fact is we should be beating norwich and we should do so with a few squad players in the starting line-up. Otherwise we go there ‘full strength’ and huffing and puffing ourselves into the ground with nothing to show for it. Seen it all before.

I would like to see Parker and bale rested, at least benched! shock horror.
put Sandro in there and let gio start on the right or push walker up and give charlie a chance. Bassong and gallas should be fine in the middle of defense…
    cmon its Norwich right>?>???

From what i`ve seen of Gio he has not made the grade, OK at internationals where he has the time but not up to the tempo of PL. Against Shamrock even he had a poor game. Would like to see Andros on and Krankie with a game, even Harry Kane on the bench (give him 20 mins if we`re 2-0 up).

A good case can be made for the inclusion of Townshend and Krankie today. And, yes, I would rest Parker and spell Adebayor when the moment’s right.

What case apart from it makes us a worse team?

Also, well done wigan. Makes todays game that bit more exciting.

      • Yachtsman says:

Just that we have to be able to rotate, to field squads that are used to playing together, not just individuals who are used to being substitutes.

And what about well done Wolverhampton?

  • DAVSPURS says:

Well we won and our new striker Roaming Bale showed why if he has a licence too roam he is unplayable. I asked the question could Bale be a striker and i think i was right he really could be.The biggest danger too our league ambitions is energised teams and last night Bale beat them and we matched them if we can keep this up we can go very far.
