Arry Threatens To Set Joe On Bob, Tomorrow’s Team Sheet Today & All That Jazz

Good morning.

Rumour has it we’re playing football against a shower of odd looking mercenaries tomorrow afternoon.  If was a beauty contest they’d win second prize and collect £10.

Bobby Manc and Arry have had a little bit of handbags which is nice. Arry essentially  suggesting that a partially sighted octogenarian lolly pop lady could win the league with Manchester City’s money. A surreal conversation given that the manager of Colchester United probably says the same about us.

The team then. My guess is that Ledders is being defrosted by Levy & Co’s Cryogenic team as we speak. Here’s my XI:

Brad, A&E, King, Kaboul, Walker, Chicken Badge, PNB, Bale, Azza Blud, vdV and Defoe. Bench: Cudicini, Pav, Livermore and Dos Santos.

I’d give Defoe until half time and not a nano second longer. In the immortal words of Raymond Wilkins, you need to score goals in the Premier League.

Munso are you Dr Who in disguise? I am both impressed and have egg on my face at the same time.

  • rogerspurs says:

Munso can you transport all of us back to August 1960 please.

  • TMWNN says:

Adebayor’s recent metamorphosis into the beanpole aside, I think we’ll really see how worse off we are without him tomorrow. We’ve pushed our luck by neglecting to further strengthen the foward department properly, but with just the lazy Russian and the perpetually overrated midget as our only options, the degree of negligence will be highlighted.

    • Phil McAvity says:

So you’re not going for an away win then?

      • essexian76 says:

Happy day’s are here again, the sun is shining bright again.

      • TMWNN says:

McAvity, ‘I’d love it if we beat them’, I wouldn’t put any money on it though.

Getting behind them down the wings is the way to go; that means Bale left and Lennon right, and getting the ball across early for Defoe to run on to. None of this roaming bollocks.

We need both Defoe on top of his game and absolute concentration from the defence. Not confident of either.

        • Chrispurs says:

You’re dead right about Bale, I’d just like him to stay wide, cross, or come inside and shoot low inside far post; not much to ask.

    • SpurredoninDublin says:

“We’ve pushed our luck by neglecting to further strengthen the foward department properly”.

Us and every other team in the league.

Seriously though: Who can we realistically sign that’s an improvement on what we already have. We are not going to get too much better than ADE, and if you are thinking about replacing the other two, if the replacements are that good, will they want to sit on the bench for half-a-season waiting for Ade’s loan to expire?

      • TMWNN says:

You make a good and valid point. But relying solely on Adebayor staying fit/on form is a big gamble, and I don’t think Redknapp has a suitable plan B which precludes Adebayor. Plan A, on the otherhand, will only be truly successful if Adebayor, or the players he holds the ball up for, start converting their chances.

How much longer can we keep using the excuse that there is no one better than Pav and Defoe if we don’t even try something different?

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

And that really is the problem. We have reached such a level that there aren’t that many available “better” players around.

In all fairness, Def and Pav would walk into most PL teams, but most of us would be glad to see the back of them. Totally agree we need to be thinking about replacing Ade now, but I can see a situation where Pav and Def would consider a pay cut to get regular first team time. Similarly the sort of person we need to bring in will, if he thinks he is going to spend a lot of time on the bench, want a pay rise to compensate.

      • SpurredoninDublin says:

Just re-read your post: I don’t think HR has ever been guilty of having a “plan b”.

    • jim says:

Seriously mate your a Idiot. Nothing but bad vibes. You’d be a great Spammer. Most of your input is bollocks and ridiculously people have time for you.

      • SpurredoninDublin says:

Including yourself it would seem. :-p

      • TMWNN says:

        ‘Your a idiot’. :-D

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

I spotted that too, but it was too easy.

Ironic isn’t it. I call you a bigot regarding your views on HR, but when I say something less than fawning about him myself, I then become an “idiot”.

There are some on here who think we should all be happyclappers and reality should be left at the door. My apologies in advance if I am unable to comply.

      • TMWNN says:

100 – 0 to Spurs. We are the bestest team ever.

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

Now you’ve dropped me in it. I think we will only win 2-1, and after your 100-0 prediction, I am going to be castigated for being negative. :ermm:

Its lovely to see a couple of “rely upons” leaning on each other.

      • jim says:

BTW That wasn’t aimed at Dud but f**k it. Oops I meant Dub.

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

I can assure you that I do not rely upon TMWNN. In fact, he has had cross words with me on more than one occasion. Of course, if you pick a fight with more than one person, do not be surprised if we both retaliate.

As for your “Dud” joke, are you auditioning for the Xmas cracker factory.

        • jim says:

Lol. At least your sense of humour is intact. In all honesty Dub your alright. I know your a spurs supporter and are pulling for a better team but TMWNN gets under my skin with his constant fucking whining. I hope you take all I say as banter. And tomorrow we win by 2 goals. If i offended you in any way i apologise, you dont deserve that. :daumen:

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

I find it very easy to laugh when I am being insulted on the web, because at the end of the day, unless you have some sort of delicate ego, no real harm is done.

As I said earlier, myself and TMWNN have crossed swords and words before, and he appears to still like to stick the boot in when he can. That does not worry me. I take a view that 90% of the stuff that’s written on here is opinion and no matter what any of us say, HR is not going to listen to any of us, so we will never be proved right or wrong.

For that reason, with the one exception of my attack on TMWNN, I never cast the first stone.

Apology both accepted and reciprocated. I have not looked at the other end of this thread, yet, but whatever has been written, I will not be adding to it.

          Top banana!

        • essexian76 says:

Tried working out a suitable aphorism and came up with Totally Miserable Whining Non-supportive Nobody.
Do you remember Little Plum Jim? constantly having that dark cloud over his head or Chicken Little even?
But if it goes tits up tomorrow-it’ll be all Levy’s fault for not spending gazillions, like Liverpool (ha fuckin’ ha) for example. Because spending huge sums of cash always works wonders! Still, even a broken watch is right twice a day, so he’s been right at least three times this season, what a pundit, he beat my Granddad’s hunter at least.

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

I think more than anybody else, the credit for turning us around must go to DL.

If you really want to put it into perspective what he has achieved, most of the posts about this transfer window are about CB’s and and a striker. But nobody is saying we need better than Ade/Ledley/Gallas. What they are all saying, is that we need to buy cover for when these players are unavailable.

I recall that when Shitty dropped their first league point, Mancini said that they needed a stronger squad. Now he’s pissed off at HR suggesting that with the money he’s been given, any old fool can win the title. I suspect the reason he is so pissed off is because Mansour, if he knows anything about football would have come to the same conclusion.

Looking at the signings made in the PL so far this window, the big names are Scholes who has come out of retirement, and three players on loan from MLS.

I have my doubts that we will make that big name signing in this window, not for want of trying, but basically we have reached such a level, that players that might improve us are scarce and more importantly, unavailable.

So if we fail to make a major signing this window, we need to blame Levy for the success he has brought us. If we were the mediocre Spurs team pre-MJ, it would be the easiest thing in the world to spend £30-40 mill on 3 or 4 players that might improve us, but bearing in mind our resources, we are now pretty close to being the best we can be.

        • essexian76 says:

You know full well I’d agree with that, you tease, it’s patently obvious as our ‘problems’ are cover for players, not definite first team starters. I was pretty annoyed, although I understood, why Parker went back into the side in place of Livermore. But the reality is we’re building a side of depth, and our only defeat since August was probably the worse case of ‘refereeing’ I’ve ever witnessed in many years of watching football. We need players for sure, but can afford what we need and are they available? Todays line-up, picks itself because we simply couldn’t afford to buy a player of Ade’s stature, that’s a fact, that’s the reality of our status right now. and it’s what we’ve bought into, like it or lump it!

  • Yachtsman says:

Was it two years ago that I saw Defoe play a cracker of a first half against the Manure, away. Yes, we lost, but he could hold his head up that day. We need more of the same. But, this time for 90 minutes.

If not, he gets yanked, a la HH. Who to take his place? The Santos I saw (via TV) in South Africa? If only…

  • Phil McAvity says:

Tough game, but like I said before with Ledders and Parker in there I think we can get at least a draw.

Without those two I think we will go down quicker than a one legged man doing the hokey cokey!
