Rapid Fire Ratings

Seconds away, Round Two.

I have successfully predicted the future on two previous occasions. The first was that you could get porn films on mobile phones. The was you’d be able to buy beer from a petrol station.

So here’s the third prediction. Referees will have their names on the back of their shirts. Another game over and we find ourselves whining about these clowns…

The problem is no longer that they can’t see everything, they are actually more interested now in being a component of the game than getting it right. In fact they know in their heart of hearts that they can’t possibly get it right, so they may as well just focus on becoming stars themselves.

The elbow by Julie Lescott and the stamp by Ballotelli were as obvious as they were nasty as they were intentional and so football needs to do the right thing and remove the responsibility from the increasingly vain and increasingly …useless men in black.

I’ve blogged separately on the boy Bale here.

The ratings then…

8.oo6 I wonder if you all realize just how important he was yesterday.

5.234 Is he a good defender? On his day he’s a crackerjack one. Is he a good wing back? Not so much. So let’s deploy Benny in the right manner, eh?

8.976 He was pretty immense. One of his toughest tests to date and he more or less passed with flying colours. Tough and mean and man of the match.

7.030 A largely impressive performance aside from a moment of complete and utter stupidity. Oh well. I guess that’s why they call it ‘human error’.

7.030 Nasri’s goal wasn’t his fault, but it was  a situation he could have done better in. I’m just really keen on defenders defending and he appears distracted.

7.404 Didn’t do much, was this anything to do with the fact that he was battling with Walker for the wing? Defensively he offered more than Bale, but needs to actually achieve more with his possession.

7.566 Didn’t pull the strings enough, perhaps this was as he was one of the few trying to be disciplined.

 7. 566 A businesslike performance for which he was rewarded with a partial concussion. A big well done to Webb and the girls.

 7. 999 Magnificent goal. Magnificently stupid tactics. More here.

6.654 Had a really tough time of it and ought to have been replaced sooner. He appeared not to be included in Bale’s master plan or Arry’s.

 7. 623 A sensational finish, in a game when he got worse service than a diner at a Fawlty Towers Gourmet Night.

Bale is great anywhere in attack, and having him make moves into the centre, as well as up the wing is a smart move. His goal against city highlights that.
Playing Defoe in place of VdV would mean Defoe could drift wide to cover.
VdV is crap on the wing.
Every game that goes by, I’m getting the feeling that VdV should be sacrificed to suit Bales game.

Defoe and Adebayor forged a fantastic partnership against the bindippers.

It’s Just a pity we can’t play all of our games up against 9 men for the last hour. :-p

Defoe has been a good servant to the club over the years, but we’ve moved up a level now, unfortunately, Defoe can’t match it. We’d do well to cash in soon.

It was the pace and movement that had Liverpool kicking ten bells out of us which resulted in them going down to 9 men, do you actually watch the games?

I thought Defoe done well yesterday, he got a very limited amount of service and only got the ball once where he wanted it (and we scored). As for the miss,I thought Bale should have passed earlier and defoe shouldn’t have checked his run. I hated the penalty mainly because who gave it away.

  • TMWNN says:

Bale should have played the ball earlier, but if we’d had a grown up striker on the pitch, the ball would’ve been in the net regardless and the game won. It’s no coincidence that it’s happened many times before.

      ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

Away at the leaders, having come back from 2-0 down, your CF has a 100% open chance to win the game, i must say this did look as a goal opportunity in any division, you should be allowed ro contemplate why the F!!! He did not score on that chance, at that time in this game, regardless of subsequent event. Low profile JD in the near future i would assume…

        • essexian76 says:

Wrong on at least three accounts. First up.Defoe isn’t a CF, never has nor will be. Second, a 100%, well, there’s enough posts on here alone that suggest the ball was delayed and forced Defoe to check his run, and lastly the time was totally irrelevant to the issue!

I’d have been happy with a draw.

    Defoe missed the winning goal.

We were as good as them.

They, though, got the luck on the day.

I wouldn’t single out any of our lads as failures on the day.

We are what we are. A work in progress with some outstanding talent.

    • TMWNN says:

Agree with all that, Bruxie, but how much longer can we keep this team together? We know Adebayor will be off, and possibly rat face too. It’s not often you get a shot at the title, and I feel we’ve once again lacked real ambition in the market.

People were saying the same this time last year after we failed to sign Carroll and Torres.

At the moment, the only “top shelf player” that I can think of, that is available, is Tevez. Quite apart from his questionable pedigree, it would show ambition bordering on insanity to lash out £20 mill + and a reprted £250k per week to sign him.

I am in the “In Levy we trust” camp as far as player acquisitions are concerned.

        • essexian76 says:

Reality and Championship Manager! nee’r the twain shall meet eh? ;-)

        • TMWNN says:

It’s not just a striker we need, although even you must realise we can’t keep playing the ‘there isn’t anyone better’ card forever.

        • essexian76 says:

No, of course you can’t, Liverpool only spent squillions proving that there are players out there, but were they better, that’s the issue,In our case are they better, are they available and are they affordable?, those are the real questions.

      • jfdit says:

the striker issue is now what our left sided quandry used to be,

if we don’t sign 1-2 by the summer we’ll struggle, defoe is nearly 30, clearly on the wane & struggles to get it on in more ways than we could believe! Pav is Pav ‘the great unloved’ – if pav & ade go where the f*ck will the goals come from?

Llorente looks a decent player but in the PL who is really worth a punt?
