Would You Have Jose At The Lane?

Good morning.

Jose Mourinho then. Duncan Castles in the National is said to have a decent relationship with The Special One. Dunc believes that we’re in for Jose.

Well let’s look at this and try and weigh up the likely hood of it happening. First up the situation of both he and Arry as they stand.

Arry is obviously knee deep in a tax evasion case, but that ends very shortly. I say ends, if he lands a custodial sentence then his time at Spurs is over. Who will step in? Well ask yourself why David Pleat was recently brought back into the fold.

Should he swerve bird, then the next hurdle is that of the England job of which Arry is known to bee keen upon accepting should it be offered to him. Overshadowing all of this is that Tottenham have a contract with Redschnapps with nearly 18 months left to run on it.

Jose seems to have been bleating about something or other for a hell of a long time. There’s always been an element in his confessions to the press of keeping his name in the hat. Making sure nobody forgets about him. But who would blame him? Football managers can go out of favour in what seems like a heartbeat; in such a volatile market you’d be a fool to ever stop working the brand.

So would you take Jose? The pros are obvious, his pedigree is insanely good. Crucially he knows the Premiership. And unlike characters like Sluralix,  he has traveled and achieved wave after wave of success wherever he went opposed to have ever really benefited from the ‘building’ process.

The negatives could therefore be potentially easy to gloss over. He needs money. And not just salary. He doesn’t do cruddy Steven Pienaar deals. He ships in nailed on talent that costs real money to not only augment the existing side but ensure that his strategies are implemented to their full effect. So where would this money come from?

Levy & Co, unlike too many fans won’t wet their pants and start signing off monster cheques just because Jose asks them too. There is a business model at the heart of the ENIC success and that will not be ‘expanded’ until we move into a new stadium.

    First time post.

See a lot of people on here talking about Jose’s temperament on the touchline etc… but that’s only ever during Barcelona games. The only actual match from La Liga that gets any coverage. You can’t play Barca at their own game, they destroy you. So, Jose sets out to try and ruffle Barca’s feathers. It’s not pretty, but it’s only for potentially two games a season. Other than that, he’s got Real Madrid acting like a team, playing as a unit, and scoring for fun. And it’s no coincidence Barca are dropping points and feeling the pressure, whilst Real can lose to their bitter rivals and STILL stroll the league (as it stands). He knows what he’s doing.

    So a yes to Jose!

All day long. I want to see Spurs win the league at least once in my lifetime!

We would win something under Jose (probably), but at what cost?

    I’m torn on this one.

Love the idea of having a totally proven winner in charge, with his ability to attract the best & retain the best players around. And a great tactician to boot.

Don’t like the idea of having someone who gives the impression on occasion that he is bigger than the club, and he won’t be cheap & will demand big money for players.

It’s a shame that Ancelotti is no longer available as he would have been perfect. Looking at the other options

. Jol, come on people get real, lovely bloke & all that, but no.

Moyes, do e a great job at a club with no money, but nothing else. All he’s done is kept them in the PL. you could list loads more like that – Pulis, Allardyce, etc. would you want any of those? No, I wouldn’t either.

Rodgers – I like the idea of this, someone who encourages his team to play great football, but he failed at Watford!

We have to aim at a much higher level. My choice would be for Hiddink, Klinsmann or Joachim Low.

C’mon are you lot tripping?? Pay him what he wants or don’t we want to win something?? He would win us trophies no question… Are we here just to make up the top 4/5/6 or to try and actually win something?? Pay him 10mil a year, better than a 10mil player a year and our top players would stay to play for him… Absolute no brainer if ever there was one… Do it levy, do it NOW!! Don’t forget we were in for him before chelski had even heard of him, I think he’ll remember that…

He’s also turned us down before, just after he was sacked by Chelsea in 2007 and Jol was fired by us.

      • melcyid says:

he had a clause that he couldnt manage a prem team for 1 year in his pay off.

        • Essexian76 says:

The thing is Melc, if we had Mourinho in charge right now and were in exactly the same position, fans on here would be singing his praises and lauding what a brilliant job he’s done, the only difference being as a side we’d be detested for our antics and dull football and the lack of youth players coming through. On the positive side, we wouldn’t be looking at SAF and United then surmising “Not a chance in hell of beating this lot”

    • Morgan says:

He has already come out and said. Money will not decide where he goes. Its about the club and what they are aimming for

      • Essexian76 says:

It’s all ‘what if’ and conjecture, but he’s going to OT or Liverpool if or ;-) when King Kenny does his disappearing act ( yet again)
