Felix Magath

Good morning.

The Felix Magath story on the front of Kicker magazine linking him with the Spurs job looks at first glance to make for a welcome distraction.

Magath is the Vfl Wolfsburg manager. And the tale is an inspired punt. Alas, the assertion is merely conjecture at this stage. Felix has hit that point in the show where his contract needs renegotiating as it is due to expire in 2013.

Magath has apparently expressed an interest in managing abroad in the past but the article quotes him as saying,

“I want to work here long term, such is agreed with my supervisory boards. I have a contract until 2013 and am still here, fulfilling it.”

The Kicker piece concludes that they think his contract would be extended to 2015.

To be frank, aside from the quote it looks every bit like they’re making it up as they go along.

Wouldn’t fancy Magath at all. Not a modern Spurs type of manager. Wins leagues with rubbish and does successive doubles when he had better players. Strict disciplinarian. Takes no bullshit. Sounds too much like Bill Nicholson to me.

Amazing that only yesterday the manager was saying that Kaboom would be out for the rest of the season along with AnE and as we already know Dawson. It is difficult to know what to believe is going on at the club but it is clear that it has become a right old mess.

On the new manager Ancelotti would be ideal, experienced in the Premier League and a winner at playing and managerial . Obviously he is contracted to PSG but never say never. If not him then I am inclined to Think that Moyes would be the safest if not the most exciting option. Rodgers, Lambert or Martinez would all be excellent but I suspect that the chairman will see them all as a bit of a risk and I wonder if he would want to take that plunge when we need to focus on getting the stadium built and keeping the team in the top six at the same time. A difficult balance but Ancellotti could do that and more. Whoever comes in will be busy, as we have a lot of dead wood to get rid of and loads of players who will need to sign up for SAGA.

Adebayor: “Training tomorrow. Hoping to be fit for Sunday. Big four games coming up.”

NO, NO, NO! No Magath! It would be Ramos all over again, plus a pretty ugly style of football.

I’d take Juergen Klopp in a New York minute or even Gladbach’s coach, Lucien Favre if you’re in the mood for a gamble, but no,no,no Magath.

I’m with the give Chris Houghton a shot at building a dynasty crowd. He’s Spurs, certainly knows the Prem and has done very impressive work at Newcastle and Birmingham.

Chris HUGHTON…..its not Houghton, it’s HUGHTON, it always was, even as a player….H U G H T O N……can we all agree? Next person who calls him Houghton is a CNUT!

Well i would have to say no to martinez, rodgers, poyet, lambert and a maybe to moyes,i would like to see glenn hoddle come back from a sentimental point of view but i cant see levy wanting that.I think we need to employ a manager who has won things and knows the modern game and is tactically sound ancelotti would be perfect but cant see him leaving mega rich PSG we could go for rijkaard, van gaal, capello, klopp, bielsa there’s enough managers out there alot better than harry that’s for sure just hope levy thinks big and goes for a big name over potential as we need this imo.
