If We Don’t Qualify For The CL, Should Arry Go? Vote Now…

Hello.

I was diagnosed in a full an fair debate earlier in the season as the type of supporter that ought to be behind glass in a museum. I was brought up with our lot occasionally holding up cups. I like ’em. All shiny and nice.

But times have changed. The Europa with it’s endless games is like adding half a season to your campaign and the financial rewards a mixed bag. The domestic cups have lost their sparkle too. The Champions League is by so far ‘The Daddy’ that for many it’s even surpassed the World Cup as a the must see competition.

And now we sit poised for Champions League qualification. And I use the word poised like you would about a kid standing in the middle of a see saw, was poised. Balanced on the brink rather than ready to pounce if you see my distinction.

So a simple poll. If we fail to secure a Champions League qualifying spot, should Arry go? By fail, I mean just that. The manner is irrelevant. If  the Blue Racists deny us by beating by beating Bayern or we achieve 5th or worse, it’s all the same.

How deep is you love?

    repetitive performance excludes individuals,…. reality!

hes on borrowed time.if dannyboy thought the fa call wasnt coming arry would have gone already.i dont know whod replace him but whoever needs experience in the prem,no more wendys,no up & coming, someone decent.mourino wont come so maybe time for hoddle to have his second coming and pay for his sins in a previous life…..(waits for violent attack);)

Harry has his failings, like tactical subtlety for example (ahem) and annoying, contradictory media soundbites.

But maybe we underestimate the impact he has on players. He (generally) gets them playing with freedom and confidence. Do you remember how shit and rigid and cagey we were under Ramos for example? Modric looked like a scared kid in a new school. Harry immediately saw how good he was and built the team around him.

Is there a danger what we’re now taking too much for granted? Some of the football we’ve played this season is the best I’ve ever seen. Astonishing speed and ability… What worries me is that another manager will put the shackles back on.

I’m not pleased with everything about Redknapp but I think you have judge him over the whole season. Arsenal went through a terrible spell as well, and Wenger wasn’t even linked with the England job :-)

I would have taken 4th at the start of the season and we’re currently on course for that. On balance, I think Harry deserves to continue.

built the team around him? Stuck him on the left you mean. I agree a manager should be given time but not one who is a self promoting, disloyal and tactically inept manager. His consistent playing of players in every position but the right one was the final straw for me.

        Self-promoting – who cares?
Disloyal – did he leave Spurs for England then?
Tactically inept – so much so that we currently languish in fourth?

His consistent playing of players in positions other than the one I would play them in is annoying though, I grant you; definitely a mistake that one

Sorry Harry SAw modric as a winger until injuries forced him to play him in the middle towards the end of season. He used to say he’s to small lol, Ramos wanted and signed him and through good tactical awarness won us a trophy and he knew where to play him Modric just had not settled yet.

No. He’s been a bit naive with his tactics when things weren’t going well, but if he had stuck with 4-5-1 and we ended up with the same results, you’d be calling for his head for not changing the system.

I don’t think Moyes would come and I get the impression he’s being lined up for the job at Man United when it’s available. Martinez isn’t a bad choice but I still think it’s too early.

So, bearing in mind that Pep isn’t going to take over, I’ll be happy to see Harry give it another go. 4th, 5th and at the moment 4th isn’t a bad return for me.

He does need to produce more in the transfer windows though and particularly in the summer. Letting Piennar go was a huge mistake.

who knows why we’ve capitulated as we have since christmas; but you can be sure it’s a combination of things:

possibly redknapp unsettled because of england nonsense

possibly fatigue due to weak squad (either buying wrong players, or right players not being available to buy)

possibly due to key injuries (lennon, sandro, centre backs)

    possibly due to tactical naivety

possibly due to bad luck in games that we’ve utterly dominated

possibly due the alignment of the planets in YOUR ANUS

who the fuck knows- but one thing is clear- we had the best first half of a season since 1961. That cannot be overlooked.

I’d be tempted to give him at least another season; as someone up there said, consistency at a club is important.

There are no guarantees in football unless you’re Jose Mourinho, and as we are not going to get Mourinho- employeeing Moyes, Rodgers, Martinez etc is more of a risk that retaining a manager who knows the players, and that players like playing for, who has overseen our best first half of the season for 50+ years.

possibly due to the fact that he has been playihg HALF WAY UP THE STAIRS by Kermit as a prematch rabble rouser for the team.

    • SerfCity says:

Possibly due to the squandering/destruction over his tenure of at one time desirable resources including – Bent, Bassong, Bentley, Hutton, Corluca, Dos Santos, Gomez, Pletikosa, Keane, Piennar, Pavlychenko…have I missed anyone?
