€30M Moutinho & €18M Adrian

Good afternoon.

John Terry may have walked from Westminster Court clutching a ‘Not Guilty’, but his footsteps always tread sewage wherever he goes. I spotted this and it’s an excellent summary of what went on link

What is vital is that he is now properly dealt with by the FA and quite rightly done for bringing the game into disrepute. Something he, his father, his mother and his jackal of a brother have been doing for years.

Moutinho has been valued at €30M by Porto so say TuttomercatoWeb this morning. Which immediately says two things. He’s not priced to sell and those suggesting we’re close to signing him must know an awful lot that you and I do not.

ElMundodeportivo believe that the Modric to Real Madrid deal negotiations have ‘intensified’ in the last few hours. There has been a mumble that Benzema might be involved in the deal to break the burden of the big cash fee Spurs want. But I’m unconvinced about this.

For one, since I announced Benzema joining us on loan last Christmas he’s hardlt impressed. I can’t recall one memorable performance in the Lilywhite. For two, this just smacks of a journo making something up – as per the Carvalho tale.

Spanish organ Marca are saying that we’re in for Athletico Madrid’s Adrian. He’ll only cost €18M. This must come with it’s own warning too and could in theory be a tale sparked off the back of the player reportedly halting contract negotiations with his current employers.

  • This Ganso looks to be the business

but I just saw this…’He has a contract which will last until 28 February 2015 with a termination fee of €50 million’

I’d go for Carroll on a year loan, with the option to buy and try him out with Defoe or A.N.Other, as I think Lennon and Bale would suit him perfectly, provided of course, we had the nous to change things if the games going the way of the vertical mammary

I wouldn’t touch Carroll, he’s a problem. I’m sure BR at Liverpool has seen something he’s not happy with and wants clear him out of the club.

        • essexian76 says:

He’s still raw and inexperienced, but time and a guiding hand can perhaps get something out of him, which is why I’d opt for an initial loan deal.
We’re looking at securing Ade, whose past is more than a little chequered, given the fact that every club he’s played for was glad to see the back of him, City in fact are rumoured to be paying us to take him off their hands, which could be a good deal, but still a huge risk in terms of team unity and our financial limitations.

      • I agree Carroll would be a great buy at a half decent price
He is very talented even though he sometimes doesnt look it.Suarez for most of the season took all the thunder away because he can make things happen quickly ,he is such a wily character
Carroll started to show a lot more near the end and looked confident as he did at the Euros.A great buy especially for us.

Paul Gascoigne’s 35 yard free kick against the Gooners in the 1991 FACup semi-final at Wembley must rate as the best ever set piece, now if AVB could get us to re-create that !

    sorry repost from upstairs,

Yep the – http://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/soccer/will-andre-villas-boas-be-a-success-at-chelsea-159034.html – is interesting, but can be summed up as:

For – golden boy, magic touch, success

Against – belittle the success, Chelski old guard will make it difficult

For me the latter does not negate the former. I was once told by a friend of a Chelski insider (many years ago) that Terry-ble is quite open about running the show behnd the scenes, and that it’s accepted. Like a chip off the old bock, you could see him rise to such heights in his rightful home on the inside, when he eventually gets done for some illegality post career, gambling debts and destitution. Point is,like Avram, Jose, Carlo, and Luis he had no chance.

Another thing that winds me up on the anti AVB newswire is this assumption that winning the FA cup and Champions league somehow validates the decision to sack him – but they were still in those comps when he was sacked, yet in a higher league position than where they finished under bobby no mates?!?!?! “HE wasn’t involved, that’s why we won them!” Do Chelski fans say the same about the Champions league win post JT sending off in the semi? Of course they don’t, instead they let him pick up the fucking trophy!!!

Lastly, and I hope this put’s everyone’s doubts to bed about AVB – ask yourseleves who is taking the bigger gamble in the coming season out of the following:

THFC – AVB the coach that Abramodick paid £13 mill to get, who has won all trophies available in Portugal, and a European trophy to boot. Who laid the foundation for the first London side to lift the ultimate club prize in World football?

Liverpool – Brendan Rodgers, the coach who was promoted with a team, and ethos moulded by Roberto Martinez, that finished mid table, 3 places and 5 points below his predeccesor Dalglish, with a run in 3 points less than distracted/sacked Redschnapps, and whose total top four club experience amounts to running an academy/reserve team that despite millions invested, has not produced a single first team player for its club, and who has been sacked by a mid table championship side after 5 months of the season?

Chelsea – Roberto Di Matteo, the coach whose previous attempt at Premier League football ended in imminent threat of relegation, and the sack after 6 months, who was then turned down by Championship club Birmingham City, yet employed by AVB as his right hand man, who instead sat back and watched his boss get frozen out by the old guard, then stepped up to take the credit for the cups. Who only bettered distracted/sacked Redshcnapps league run in from March by 3 points finishing 2 places below us?

Villa – Paul Lambert, the coach whose entire managerial career prior to last seasons Mid table premier league finish, was spent in the lower leagues, whose run in produced 12 points, 3 less than distracted/sacked Redschnapps.

Arsenhole – Arsene Whinger, the coach who, despite being in charge of one of the 5 richest clubs in the World (deloitte), has not won a domestic trophy for SEVEN YEARS, who finished above the distracted/sacked Redshcnapps by a SINGLE POINT, 19 points behind the champions, who despite having 15 consecutive cracks at the champions league, and the failsafe of the Uefa cup if kicked out in the group stage, has not won a single European trophy EVER, who presides over a club that loses its best players season after season despite paying some of the highest wages in the league?

Man shitty – The coach, who despite spending a bajillion squids in the last two seasons, scraped the title from a disfunctional bunch of deluded, distracted, and deranged rivals on GOAL DIFFERENCE! Who avoided finishing without a single trophy by the skin of his injury time teeth, Who was even more undermined than AVB when forced to put the Argentinian gypsy back in the side after saying he was finished at the club, who will persevere with the loon Balotelli until there is a murder in the dressing room?

Man Utd – Fergie, the coach who won nothing last season, and who spunks £32 million on a player he leaves on the bench despite being the top scorer from the previous season, just so that he can keep the Scouse Gypsy happy, who is a matter of months away from wearing a nappy, and walking in a perpetual circle down at the end of the garden muttering about his favourite pet?

Who is worth a gamble? As the voice of Blind date used to put it….’You decide!’

    Thepin abides.

      I love it

    • cookiebun says:

I have to say that I was enjoying your observations and totally agreeing with them until you came out with the shameful garbage about (the best manager the Prem has known) Fergie. That put the whole point of your piece in the trash bin. Disrespect of this level to a great footballing manager is pretty sick.

      • Thepin says:

I’m sorry, did I miss something? Since when did beetroot nose become a sacred cow? Please nail your colours to the mast Cookiebun – have you ever disrespected a great manager?

Have you ever disrespected Wenger? Arse fans think he is a great manager.

Have you ever disrespected Redknapp? There are posters here, and on other spurs sites that think he is a great manager (including himself – 2pointsfrom8games etc.).

Did you disrespect George Graham, the only manager in history to win trophies with both Arsenal and Tottenham?

Did you disrespect Fergie when he shamelessly dragged us through the slurrypit at the beginning of 2008/9 season in his pursuit of Berba?

If you say yes to any, then welcome to the club. If you can say no to all of those then may I suggest the anodine, preteen safety of Match Magazine for your football reading from now on. .

Alternatively, reread my post and you will see I was questioning our rivals’ ability to match us in the coming season with their choice of manager – if I try to do it with a little humour that you don’t get then, as I said before, there’s always Match magazine.

        • So as opposed to both of you,I actually think Fergie took an average team last season and nearly made it.
He had to come up with a plan that would compete with City. Uniteds buying player power,he already lost that to them, so he devised this plan to use the kids and had them thinking the Community Shield was the CL final and that started the season with a bang.It cost a few of his other players but its an angle he came up with, that although total bullshit, was close enough to get the prize as the most creative manager last year

        • essexian76 says:

For going against my initial abhorrence of Redknapp and almost liking the bloke for the quality of football we played, I disrespected myself!
But now I’m cleansed and looking into a future, where the name of Hotspur can be associated with Daring and above all,Honour once again….well, until August anyway.

        • September at least maybe even April or quite possibly May.

    • I think you should become a barrister.Thats a hell of a case for the good

  • Razspur says:

We are now favourites to sign Dzagoev and 14/1 to beat Chelsea home and away seems generous given AVB’s drive & passion.

    • essexian76 says:

22 seasons without a win at the Bridge, I’d say 14-1 was pretty lean odds, although it’s going to happen-it’s got to…hasn’t it?
