Sex, Lies & Oven Chips

Good afternoon.

Gareth Bale’s in the public eye. Not for his ear adjustment, rather the fact that he swerved playing football in the Olympics for Team GB. Sepp Blatter wants the Welsh wizard banned. Nice work Sepp.

With all the corpulent corruption that exists in the modern… oh hang on, you’ve been on the take since ’88 so the route of this is almost certainly down to trying to some elaborate five star junket this summer…

“If a club does not release a player then this association can come to FIFA and we will then ban this player during the Olympics.

“So far nobody has come to us but it is a possibility we could ban these players if they are not at the disposal of the national team.”

Bale is quoted as saying:

“My rehab’s gone very well at the club. We are well ahead of schedule and I am glad to be back.”

Gary Lineker tweeted:

“Once in a lifetime opportunity thrown away. Baffled.”

Well Gary, maybe he’s actually interested in taking part in something useful like a  preseason with a team that are part of the real world – opposed to some public school boy, London centric w@ankfest.

Not everyone is basking in the glow of the spirit of the games.  The majority of people see The Games exactly for what they are; an over hyped, over priced hotch potch of minority sports that nobody really cares about.

Elsewhere Gomes has been opening his heart to The Sun. I say opening his heart but anyone with half a brain could have guessed what he had to say. Arry was a poor communicator, froze out a player who’s form dipped rather than addressed issues and cost the club millions by refusing to sell the player on. What a blessing that parasite was eventually binned.

After watching some highlights on ESPN I see that some some proclaimed tactical geniuses are already declaring themselves not only experts but severe critics on the Andrè Villas-Boas ‘high line.’

I’ll keep this brief.

One, if you could discern or deduce anything from watching what’s occurred out there so far please forward me a mailing address because I want to send you a special shiny medal (not one of the normal ones).

And two, if you are worried about the implementation of a high line after three seasons of applauding A&E and Walker playing as out and out wingers then you know more about oven chips than you do about football.

More nonsense from Blatter. My understanding is that the call was Pearces to leave him out because he wasn’t fit when the squad was finalised.

It is always a gamble for a manager when there is an injured player.

Olympics a big waste of money. Did I read that the opening ceremony has cost £27 million. Can you really believe that?

  • There is nothing more to take from the Galaxy game than to take from the Galaxy game. Its a pre season game and its using new players, giving old players a chance for sure and not that important in the over all scheme of things.
When you have total belief why would you even question?
To be honest I dont understand the high line game completely. I mean its not about just players playing higher up the field.
I think it uses the offside trap as it pushes the forwards more away from the goal and makes the field smaller and therefore the line at the back has to be strong and work in unison to get the timing right.
All thats is understandable. Im personally not big on using the offside trap as a tactic but if it works, then great.I want to see a winner at Tottenham.
But not having holes is important because any clever and quick player (and some as we saw,not so quick)can beat the trap as wellas the linesman make lots of mistakes of judgement and that is dengerous.
I havent assessed AVB on this one game or even 2 or 4 or more. He needs time.
But that doesnt put him beyond the magnifying glass.
Ive been a fan for a long time.My belief is based in ‘Show Me’

How anyone can take any notice of Blatter is beyond me and I suspect most people. The whole set-up of FIFA and the FA are an embarrasment to all fans. The damage done to English football by the FA is only overshadowed by the ineptitude of FIFA. I would love to see their expenses for all the meetings and bun-fights they attend. I am sure it wiuld make Modric’s transfer fee pale in comparison.

  • as to the Bale situation.Team GB is not Team Gareth Bale.

Too right ronnie, how dear he try to steal Gordon Banks` thunder?
HH has got it spot on – the olympics (am I allowed to type that or will I get sued for breach of copyright) is pointless to many people, a waste of money and an opportunity for one particular cola company wave it`s enormous dick in the face of another cola company.
Pre season friendlies? The greatest importance I place on these is the negative one of flying the squad a good part round the world and back before they`re even match fit, so close to the start of the season.

The games lost most of their appeal when they turned it into a medal-grabbing propaganda machine. Professionals in with the amateurs, exposed drug cheats running down the field behind unexposed drug cheats, swimmers picking up 50 medals each. For me, that destroys the original Olympian ethos and if they’re trying to sell themselves as high class entertainment, I have to say I’ve no time for boating, American sports and tiddlywinks champions (although the last one was pretty good).

The idea that some stupid designer football tournament can have any bearing on the real game is laughable.

        • Are you saying Jesse Owens should have only picked up 2 or 3 medals? and Tottenham have a fantastic Tiddlywinks team. They also use a high line defence. Its very difficult to flip the counter f=in such a miniscule space
