André Villas-Boas spoke briefly with a reporter from AS.com as the lads were waiting to depart from Thiefrow Airport.

When it was suggested that he would know Jose Mourinho’s ambitions in relation to Modric as well as perhaps anyone, Villas-Boas referring Real Madrid’s existing midfielders said “There are eight, right?” as he then physically counted out the players names on his fingers.

Here Villas-Boas is implying that perhaps Real Madrid may not quite see Modric to be the invaluable missing piece of Jose’s puzzle he might view himself to be.

On Modric not travelling Villas Boas was to the point.

“I think Modric is wrong. This will go against you. Has worsened the situation with what you are doing and now the president is very angry.

Also has not caught in good time to Daniel Levy. is happening these days in the U.S. because his wife is ill. ”

When asked, “Are you interested in Cazorla?” André Villas-Boas replied,  “Our team is constantly looking for players. But I do not talk about it.”

What a refreshing change to have coherant manager who is ‘on message’ with the both the club and it’s supporters.

Adebayor? Well has has been widely reported, he’s in the States, but the other side of the country. That said, he’s closer to the Spurs first team than he is the Manchester City’s which is in Austria.

As previously on here, Ade has signed off everything with Tottenham but the delay is at the City end, this corroborated by Jasper and Marcspurs on Spurs Odious as well as JJetset formerly of Spurs Community.

Quite why people expected this to be a deal wrapped up in the time it takes to make a Pot Noodle whilst beyond me, it doesn’t surprise me.

Gylfi said: “It will be fantastic. I’m with the squad 27/4, not just three hours and then another session in the afternoon, we’re together the whole time, so I’ll get to the chance to chat to them and get to know them all.”

Sigg must be the vodka on the plane..

Rednapp used the fact that Levy was in the air on his way to bury his mum and then called his Sky sports news pals to a Devere golf course to partake in his underhand tactics to gain a new contract.
AVB mentioning Levy’s wife being ill at this stage matters not, its common knowledge that Daniels wife is not well now, all the press know about it to they just choose not to bring it up, Modrics agents must be well aware of Levys current circumstances so to advise him to snub the tour is seriously bad advice.
I say keep him and let it be known he can leave on a free in 4 years, would be great business as he is not on massive wages.

Modric is simply “doing a Berbatov” and is kidding himself that this will do better than it did for Berbatov. It would be ironic to see him sitting on the bench shewing his nails while Jose nudges someone, points & then laughs.
IMO Modric you aint got close to John white by a country mile but stay deluded ss I for one don’t give a **** if you go , so long as e get 40million.But then real only think that you are worth 27million.Funny that?

what player do you guys think we need to complete our squad this season? is a goalie a must? I thought Brad done really well last season and would be happy to stick with him.
should we release Pienaar? he showed good form second half of last season when he went on loan at Everton.
Have we seriously got the money for Mounthino?
All this talk on new money does not add up, we have sold a fair few players and reduced the wage bill thats the only reason Bale, Ade have been offered bigger wages IMHO.
Our wage bill has shot up in the last 2 seasons so not sure we can afford all the names were being linked with.

I saw enough of Butland against Brazil the other week to convince me we should be going all out to get him. Loan him back to Birmingham for the year bring him back to replace Friedel next year.

Incidentally, did anyone else notice that a GB back four which contained two of our boys managed to hold Neymar, Hulk, Leandro, Oscar et al at bay for the second 45 mins? Maybe Caulker is ready for first team action after all.

I don’t think any of us really know how much money we’ve got for players. Only DL and a few others know that. They’re hardly going to publicise the figure either.

And most of the names we’re linked with is media bullshit.

A name that hasn’t really been linked with us to replace Modric is Ericksen at Ajax. Good player, young, potential monster sell-on value. A DL type of signing.

      • LLL says:

I seem to remember Erikksen saying he would be staying for another season as he is young and still learning – which he is, at 20. But agreed, good prospect, we should be looking at him when he is available
