Thought I would leave the confines of Twitter and stick a penny in. Modders is a GOOD player, but he isn’t GREAT. Yet. Will he ever be great? I don’t think he will. Too small, moody and doesn’t score enough goals. Lets get rid of him sensibly and spend the money on a striker.
Modric hasn’t scored enough goals? Modric hasn’t created enough chances? Yet, for some reason we seem determined to hang on to him and a host of clubs are prepared to pay for his services? It’s because the blokes a class act. He’s a busy, intelligent midfielder, who’ll hit a pass from deep, and at pace which turns our opponents attack into ours, but because it doesn’t register as an assist, somehow it doesn’t count? perhaps some should actually watch him play and then tell me, he’s crap or average, instead of reeling off lazy journo’s ‘facts’ that are irrelevant anyway. As I said before if Moutinho’s a better and cheaper option, why aren’t Madrid looking at him, after all he’s only next door, speaks the managers lingo and is far cheaper and more accessible?
Two goals and two assists in the League – hardly worth £40m is it? But look at how many times he sets up the assist by setting Bale, Lennon or Adebayor free? Thats why Madrid and others want him – but it seems we are quibbling over the last £2m or so of the fee – and it will disrupt our start to the season like it disrupted last years? Remember Modrics gutless display v Man City and pulling out of the Man Utd trip? Sell him for £38m and FFS sign a striker – or two.
p.s. I’ve seen Mrs Modric with Luka at Gatwick airport and she is gorgeous……..I wonder what she sees in the multi-millionaire footballer?
