Vide Cor Meum ushers in the first strands of morning light.

He has been preparing for this day from the moment he survived an Amyl Nitrate overdose twenty minutes after the last transfer window closed. Gently woken from a medically induced coma at an undisclosed location, a woozy middle aged man takes his first few sips of nuromuscular blockers in solution.

So here we are once again then. I was toying with the idea of a live blog but to be honest until someone makes one that is actually ‘liver’ than this format there’s little point. So this page will be with us until 2300hrs and then a new blog with detailed analysis of where we are tomorrow morning will be published, tomorrow morning.

The news about the hiccup on the Loris deal cause heated angst to be sprayed at Levy & Co. with fire extinguisher pressure. I don’t have a problem with opinion, but today may prove too action packed for comments with rude words in to be tweaked and salvaged from moderation. So perhaps weigh up the loss of impact your expletive has with an asterisk compared with the loss of impact of the entire comment never being read.

So what might happen?

Well, Moutinho is very likely if want him to be our most expensive signing ever.

‘Porto is an extremely difficult club to deal with. I don’t think he is a player we can afford. I have never hidden that he is a player of tremendous qualities – there are only a few players who can come in straight away to a team and have a direct impact.

Only world-class players do that and he is certainly one of them but it doesn’t mean it’s within our reach.’

Villas-Boas yesterday.

I think we are most likely to land Daniel Sturridge. And that’s my punt. The Club may well be playing a straight bat on this whole striker business, but they know that aside from managing the expectations of the angry mob supporters, Defoe and Adebayor isn’t all that much to get excited about. It doesn’t obviously smack of Champions League qualification.

Berbatov anyone?

What becomes of the broken hearted? See you at close of play. BIOYC!

    Sturridge?? He’s just Defoe MkII

Berbatov?? That moody so and so would just be back up, not a position he likes to be.

Lloris, Mountinho and Affelay would be dreamy!

Berba gossip smacks of old Red Nose telling Fulham to get on with it.

Today will be torture – but in a good way.

Maybe by the end of it we will get a new GK, new CM and new Striker.
Yes we all want the best that’s available but unfortunately we can’t afford to do that – that’s what City and Chelsea can do. Not us.
What I do trust is that AVB will work with DL to get the best players that we can attract and afford. I am much more comfortable with this that I would be with Harry Rednap working with DL. I do not think that we will bring in any players who do not fit AVB’s style of play – this in itself is heartening as there is nothing worse than watching players who do not give their all when playing for Spurs.
What I also expect is that we will get rid of some more fringe players. In the past harry would like to keep them around just in case he might ever need them. I believe AVB is much more ruthless and if they are not in his plans he will want to move them on. I think that DL has more faith in AVB and will be comfortable to get rid of players based on AVBs assessment of their potential. I could never imagine DL listening to suggestions from Harry that we should let Tom H go out on loan or sell VDV or Dawson – it just wouldn’t happen. He would be wondering where the kick backs for Harry were in the deals
If we got no one else in I’d be happy enough with this window provided we could get rid of some more dross. I’d like to see Jenas and Bentley moved on as I don’t think they offer anything to us.
It’s gonna be a long day but look on the bright side – we won’t end up with a Frazier Campbell or Grzegorz Rasiak – not while AVB is in charge.

And the Understatement of the Year Award goes to…

    • Danny says:

Are you sure? If it plays like usual, it’s going to be stragglers, panic loan signings and press leak’s of what could have been – leaving Levy counting the pennies in the burgeoning ENIC coffers at the end of this evening.

With Spurs delisting recently, this smacks of last minute profiteering prior to the club being put up for sale….

  • Bobbles says:

Fergie hinting at Berba return – yes fecking please – I reckon he has 1-2 good seasons left in him and would be ideal in AVB’s system.

We can forgive and forget can’t we?
