Good afternoon.

More proof that the PG Tips chimps are alive, well and working on national sports desks. Crusades are usually expensive or at least require those taking part to disengage their brains. The good news for HH readers is I don’t charge and you get to make your own mind up.

Daily Mail 3 days ago with the headline: ‘That Didn’t Take Long! Hugo Lloris Unhappy With AVB Just Four Days After Joining Spurs.’

This negatively spun claptrap used the quotes of a third party – in this case Didier Deschamps – to support what’s essentially a lie.

‘Hugo has not appreciated the statements of his coach. I am not going to create a problem that I do not need today. But if it were to happen then it would need some consideration. I do not want Hugo to find himself in this situation.’

Deschamps is clearly a bitter little horse meat sandwich muncher with an agenda. It is a cynical stunt on behalf of the Mail to use his comments to support a piece of fiction. Deschamps has since added:

‘He is one of the best three goalkeepers in the world. Hugo could play against any player in any league. Now, if he can help Tottenham to the next level, it could be a springboard towards a bigger club.’

The player Hugo himself has demonstrated a diplomacy to match Villas-Boas’. As per my last blog on this issue, it’s as plain as the nose on your face that the boss doesn’t want to be disrespectful to Brad. Hugo Lloris said yesterday:

‘I am a professional and I can put all this aside, I’m only and entirely focused on France. I’ve played enough matches in the past to be able to manage this.’

Articles like this are about as honest and truthful as Kevin Bond sat on SNN on transfer deadline night in a suit we paid for making snide digs about us now having four goalkeepers. Good luck with that media career, Kev, the last famous chauffeur I saw appear on TV was Henri Paul.

I’ll be running a blog on every piece of nonsense involving this Club until the chimps start to think before hitting the publish button.

In other news, demand footballing supremo Harry Redknapp has joined Bournemouth.

I’m with Harry H on this one. Sections of the press are clearly out to make trouble at Spurs for no other reasons than to generate a nice easy story for them to report. Lets face it, the Daily Mail is a disgrace and is not fit for arse paper at the best of times. Spurs supporters should get behind the club and ignore the half wits in the press and media.

    • Habib says:

The tone of the Spurs’ blogs has changed to the reflection and understanding that the press seems to be out for their man and they are being used as tools to get the job done. Hope the boo boys get the message too.

We’ve just sacked our best manager since Venebles and replaced him with a rookie, non-playing guy who has already been under the cosh in this country. If you’re in the lime-light and controversial with it the red tops will pounce. Feeling the need to be the first to report means pre-empting, second-guessing, etc. We’re a story waiting to happen and it’s up to those under scrutiny to prove the tabloids and doubters wrong. The decision-making professionals at the club would have been well aware of the implications of a bad start and I feel it’s something they weren’t expecting. We’re in the money game. We’re in the spotlight. There is no time, or need, to be ripping apart what we had. If we do drop our levels considerably from where we were, challenging for 3rd, 4th, 5th, of course the media will dig in.

I’ve no problems with Non-Playing guys-but you’re forgetting Redknapp was a disloyal, untrustworthy piece of garbage-who’d have left us in the cack if offered the England gig he and his cronies thought he had-you cannot and must not ever forget that under any circumstances. Why is OK for him to tell Levy to shove a new deal-yet wrong for Levy to tell him to fcuk off-when it all went mammaries-up?

        • jerkinmahjurgen says:

I’ve blogged on many occasions that Redknapp deserved the sack. He let us all down. Had to go without question. However, whatever your views regarding him, his ways, or our expectations, he had us improved, buzzing, and playing at a higher level than we have in a while. That’s all I’m referring to. Where our level was. And where it will now be. He had to go for sure. The issue here is the replacement. Management let us down, not the squad. Do we really need to rip it up? Couldn’t we have gotten someone who’d take the squad, it’s style and ways, on? Carry it on? Keep it going. We didn’t need to take a step back. Or risk that. A squad that was challenging well, getting on well only to be let down by management should’ve been embraced and encouraged onwards. Seems 75% have been told they can leave and we’re starting over completely. If we rip what we had apart, it will be noted. Reported on. Talked about. Non-playing is ammo. Not just fans and media but players also. And not the biggest issue or indeed the only. Personality. Respect. Experience. We’re Tottenham Fucking Hptspur. With just a scattering of exceptions, older, more experienced managers are better, especially at bigger clubs. Not to mention our squad were responding well in their relationships to a 65yo boss. This, in comparison, is like having your younger brother in charge. AVB has no playing clout. For this reason alone it’s imperative he has the squad behind him. Has he emvraced his whole squad and got them behind him? On board? A couple of weeks watching close up, getting to know players, decided already so many not good enough? Without potential. Can’t work with, build on, coach, basically. He’s an old scout. Can he not see ANYTHING in our players to work with? Change his ideals at all? I am concerned. It’s all about results.

I agree, as well you know-if we could’ve somehow kept the playing side of things and hung, drawn and quartered the cretin, I’d have been in raptures. As I see, DL has to go for broke by drawing a line under Redknapp and his ilk, then gambling-and it’s a huge gamble, that he’s getting in AVB, what Abramovic thought he was by paying silly money in the first place. It even could be a case of one-upmanship on Levy’s part, as they’ve (RA) got history, haven’t they? If Levy pull’s this off-it would be a master-stroke of epic proportions, as for me? I’d have gone with Moyes-Tailor-Made for us, but ABV’s here now and for a season at least-I’ll not criticize him, let alone boo the team. For analogies sake only in 1987 Nick Faldo won the open, but he broke his game down, back to basic’s because he felt his swing couldn’t hold up on a consistent level for him to achieve greatness and longevity-the rest is history as they say? One back-four forward will do me, because I don’t consider us to be a ‘big club’ any longer, what we are is an average club with limited means, yet somehow we’re in the mix. History get’s you nothing and means even less in playing and financial terms, even Arsenal with a huge stadium and impressive income, cannot retain their players-so even if and when the new stadium is built, it’s no guarantee of greatness, only a step forward or possibly a way to maintain where we are now. The key is players, managers and staff, and this is ours and Levy’s throw of the dice. COYS

        • jerkinmahjurgen says:

we’ve never been in the biggest-club bracket despite great history. But it could be argued that despite, admittedly, standing still domestically at present whilst handfulls of clubs have upgraded stadiums or gained sugar-daddies, globally we’ve risen due to the power of the Premier League. Even clubs like Wigan and Bolton – a few years now collecting that money each year – even Ajax and Porto and such will only get that with a successful European campaign and selling players. I’m not sure there are any dead-certs when appointing a manager so there’s no rope for Levy from me yet. Too many chance factors. Listen, I want AVB to succeed. Fast, attacking, hard-working. He certainly talks the talk. Not worried about size upfront, didn’t want Carroll thank the lord, doesn’t like hoofers, etc. All lovely to hear, but is the timing right? Has he in his locker to pull us out already? I hope so, but the teams we’ve got coming up will do what we’ve faced. Can we break them down? How many more no-wins before it starts getting Ramos? We’re to big to cut your teeth on. Our interests are global. The pressure massive. Still, we do struggle against these types and we’re a few players down, so hopefully it’s nothing to worry about. Talk of Ade being fitenised smack of him starting the next [hopefully]. We’re only a point worse off but we’ve played no giants. I do urge the lads that go and create the atmosphere to make some noise. If he’s struggling to lift the players the fans should have a go. Fan power shouldn’t be underestimated. You should all get coked-up before the next game. Where’s Dav when you need him?

        • essexian76 says:

Dav’s spaced out on a drip, getting ready to start the new season, (which always begins in Sept), maybe Mus will give him a nudge and together they’ll release dogs of war once again?

Press out for AVB, you out for Redknapp.

    Whats the difference ???

A couple of seasons’ worth of being in the job for a start. I would have thought that much was obvious.

    • Harry Hotspur says:

I gave Redschapps enough rope to hang himself. You don’t have an issue with a Tottenham manager being given longer than 3 games?

      Wow.

      • DaveK says:

        Yeah, hung himself…4th,5th,4th….some suicide!

I think ‘Arry will do well at Bournemouth. It’s not the first time he’s returned to an old stomping-ground and may not be the last… I’m a little shocked he’s doing it for nothing. Wonder what Rosie’s up to? Been out of the game for a while, I know, but could make a return.
