Analysis For Sore Heads & Sore Hearts

Good afternoon. Well. That wasn’t very nice was it?

We were in all too many respects link a racehorse the handicapper got to. Bale’s wife went into labour. Dembele was injured and these two absences sent the dominoes inexorably falling. The worst of it was in the middle of the park. Sandro without his foil found himself drowning.

The first mistake was starting Brad. I really believe that we need to give Hugo a run of games now. He’s not some child, give him the shirt and let’s get on with it. This isn’t taking a punt. He wasn’t cheap. He’s one of the best keeper’s in the world. That’s not opinion.

Kyle Walker was finally busted. Not interested in how hurtful the Tweets were. He’s been gormless all season and we need to be thankful we spotted sooner rather than later. He might not need abuse, but he needs benching and it’s vital he’s dropped in favour of someone competent. The Forest Gump runs never impressed me and the headless chicken routine has just become depressing.

People were screaming for Gallas’ blood yesterday but with a no midfield in front of him and a lobotomised llama next to him he was never going to win the day. He did do some good work; but there seems a general undercurrent of unkindness toward him. His header out was powerful. It was blind luck it fell so kindly for Cahill.

Neither Caulker or Jan seemed to be quite at the races. Were they overawed? Well their performances against Manchester United suggest that wasn’t the case. But there were no runs, no dynamism. No sense of dynamism.

Huddlestone stepping in for Moussa wasn’t helpful. In fact it was equivalent of shoveling road gritting salt into a wound. He’s a sweet touch and that’s all he has. Like a comic trading off one good catchphrase. He struck several wonderful passes and then stood as if waiting for the applause. Desperately immobile. A desperate waste of a career.

Elsewhere we looked generally weak and a rather timid. The same old Lennon. Whizzing and skipping and zipping about but not really achieving all that much. It’s heartbreaking. Dempsey and Siggurdson were horribly unmemorable.

Villas-Boas is playing a risky strategy here with his choice of forwards and his seeming reluctance to make substitutions. Defoe is extraordinarily limited. Is Adebayor still not fit? If not, why not? This was a game where the midfield decided the outcome and we simply didn’t have one.

I think this season we have become a pale imitation of the exciting attacking side we have been in the past few seasons… now I am glad Harry has gone and I want AVB to be successful but even when I watch a match I am finding it difficult to get excited because we are playing a balnd and pedestrian style devoid of any real flair or style unless Bale is on fire and Dembele is on the ball… VDV and Modric were our style players and we have dispatched them replaced them with far lesser mortals. The side is not creating any excitment and I think that is affecting the crowds and the atmosphere at the Lane

Their first 2 goals were totally down to Gallas, the fourth Walker (who continues to make the same mistakes in match after match) and the third was a joint effort.
Mata is on our right touchline and has 3 of our players in front of him. He passes sideways and then jogs beyond the 3 ( Livermore being closest )
    all of whom ignore him.
He then heads for the gap between Walker and Gallas. Walker watches him go and ignores him. Gallas fails to see him and Walker does not warn him.

Same thing happened a few minutes later when Torres got in the same gap and just missed the far post and against MAN U, when their Japanese player scored.

Walker needs coaching if he is to become a proper defender

Jan is a quality player but slow to recover on occasions when he goes upfield.

Agree Lloris should be given a chance but not sure Brad did much wrong yesterday.

Walker is attack minded and is only swift on his feet

      Jan is quality

The idea of using the offside trap (high line defence) as the prime defensive tactic is nobody has to stand behind their markers or have them in a position to tackle.its all about the linesman.
Tackling after someone is by you is not easy
      Gallas is also slow

We buy Lloris…..DUH! and play Brad.Dumb..dumb..dumb..dumb..dumb

David…I think Brad should have come out and provided an obstacle to Mata instead of standing on his line waiting to concede. He doesn’t make any mistakes because he NEVER takes a risk. He always concedes the goal but…its never his fault.

      I’d rather have Gomes.

Everyone needs to get a grip!!!!

Yes it was the blue scum, yes it was home but the Arse handed the Canaries their first win of the season and first win over them since year one on the Prem.

    What did we learn children……

AVB plays people on merrit and says what he means. Brad had earned the start as he has been excellent for the most part. After yesterday, we can hand the gloves to Lloris with no controversy.

I love Bill Gallas and Bill Gallas likes me. All effort but obviously on the downside. If BAE and The Bull were healthy not sure he’d be in there but they’re not. Could Daws do better, let’s find out. Walker was limited and exposed with the inbalance in front of him.

Midfeild, sorely missed Dembele, agree Hud put in a shift but the speed of the game limits him and put too much pressure on Sandro. As a yank could have told you Dempsey on the left not good. Would rather have seen Lennon over there and Townsend on the right. Siggy was an improvement but Duece looked gassed.

Up front need to get Ade into the team. Dafoe is a poucher but does not tie up defenders like the big man. Ade will open space for Lennon and the baby daddy.

Depressing yes, life threatning no….. I see progress and we lost to a team that exploited our forced frailties. No panic needed. In Daniel and AVB I trust!!! Memory check, we won at OT this month

One thing I said at the beginnning of the season was this season we wont be judged by our league position but where we are compared to the arse.So I guess we kept pace

  • Billy Fiore says:

Felt Jan was the only Spurs player out there in the first half. It’s a poor result considering Chelsea were clearly beatable. They dominated and yet still allowed us back in to the game despite our own incompetence. We were makeshift and our lack of depth showed a lot of cracks. The goalkeeper, defence and midfield are clearly fixable with adjustments, but the attack is a real worry.

Defoe, of course, selfish selfish selfish. When he gets the ball, controls it and begins his customary, excruciating run across the box which usually gives the opposition time to get three players in the sight of goal… it would be an ABSOLUTE JOY if he were to once, JUST ONCE, engage his brain to actually find a bit of vision and play another player in. All too predictable.

People say JD isn’t right for the one up top job… for the player himself it’s a dream come true, because he never has to pass. Extremely one-dimensional.

Adebayor is apparently still not match-fit, but looked like he is still going through rehab for industrial-based back injury. Not too much to expect the highest earner to come on and not play like we’re losing 0-10.

  • Mr Pamplemousse says:

I was screaming for Ade to come on. When he did he was woeful. I think he is top draw but yesterday oh my word……
