Good evening job seekers.

5-2 eh? That wasn’t very nice, was it? Well, that agreed I had asked the boss yesterday for a 442 away and bless his strawberry blondeness …he obliged. That tactic undoubtedly gave us something of an initiative – because we scored. Also we looked at that stage as if our frailties might stand more than half a chance if we took that approach.

So to the Adebayor thing. I know many of you were not watching on Sky so it may not bore everyone to share that Gary Neville said that he felt that Togo’s finest was ‘too pumped’ prior to the kick off.  The bottom line with that challenge is that had it been executed on Bale or Azza then you me and even the woman next door who only heard it on the radio while she was doing some ironing would have been up in arms.

The bring back Arry mob have of course raised their Troglodyte heads. Idiots crowing, ‘I told you so’ are achieving what exactly? If they could summon up a coherent argument that even vaguely touched upon us throwing away a 2 goal lead with 11 men and a far far superior squad under that schmuck then perhaps they might care to expand.

As I said to a pal earlier, I’m emotional as a fan; yet I now no longer invest too heavily in personnel. So me backing AVB isn’t a Villas-Boas centric campaign, rather wishing the current guy managing Spurs well. If the boss behaves like Arry did when Arry became ‘distracted’ from the pass then I’ll be the first to suggest we bin him.

Where the gaffer did the business for me was in his substitutions. We’ll do some analysis in the am, but whilst I’m fed up, I’m not angry. January will be pivotal. This side urgently needs reinforcements.

Despite the red card i felt spurs played really well, at one stage in the second half we had 64% posession which ain’t to shabby with 10 men. Arsenal were always going to win this one after the red card. You have to have 11 players on the field to stop them knocking it about which unfortunately they do so well. Red card for that challenege after that amount of minutes on the clock was harsh. West Ham will be the lithimus test AVB and hopefully we’ll have Dembele back

It matters not “how many minutes”, a dangerous tackle is a dangerous tackle, red card deserved.

I think the system of punishment for those tackles needs to reassesed. It wasn’t a premeditated act of lunacy it was split second miscalculation and one team has to play with ten men for the remainder of the game because it, Spurs or whoever i don’t think its a fair price for any team to pay. The game was as good as over after the red card and strictly speaking you are correct it was a red card tackle but i don’t think that ruling in football is fair. I mean to say we have rules and regulations in football so we have fair smooth running games of football today the sending off went against that. A yellow card and a strong warning might have realigned Ade’s thinking and if not yeah send him off for then what would be deliberate endangerment.

Yes there needs to be an alternative if only because fans pay a lot of money and for only the most partisan of fans the spectacle is ruined.

Today I would sooner have had a goal marked against us or maybe we need a sin bin.

        • Hot_Spur says:

It has nothing to do with “smooth running games” it has everything to do with endangering other players careers. If Ade had connected full on with Corzola’s leg he could have broken it. As I said, a dangerous tackle is a dangerous tackle and that doesn’t depend on whether it happens in the first minute or the last minute. You’re talking non sense.

        • myheartgentlyweaps says:

The second you step onto a football field any number of upredicatable permutations of events can result in horrific career ending injuries and no amount of over regulation can prevent that. Also it was that horrific of a challenge fair enough it was a bit on the high side but there wasn’t that much force on it and it wasn’t to the supporting leg.

        • myheartgentlyweaps says:

What is the advantage to sending Ade off versus shall we say ten minutes in a sinbin? This tackle is out of character for him everyone makes errors of judgement every now and again.

        • Hot_Spur says:

Try telling the guy with a resulting broken leg that the tackle was “out of character”. Dangerous tackles deserve a red card, “out of character” does NOT make the tackle less dangerous. Geez, can’t you see that???

        • CincinnatIYid says:

Yes, a yellow and a warning would have been adequate. (A). It did not appear intentional; (B). Despite the histrionics, Cazorla was not seriously injured. He was back on the pitch after the briefest of intervals; (C) it was a high pitched game and loose play was to be expected; and to my mind the most important (D). Ade has been sent off 4 times in his career. Howard Webb has done it three of those times. Is this mere co-incidence?

Webb is obviously in MU’s pocket. Despite his terrific résumé I find him an often biased ref. Ade was careless and overly emotional, but this challenge was not like one I saw Ronaldo sent off for years ago where he went in with both feet to revenge himself on the other guy. Ade got Cazora on his off ankle with one shoe. The contact had no effect on Cazorla or the game. Webb’s call did. It did not have to happen.

      • frontwheeler says:

I can actually understand we why he was sent off it didn’t look good in real time. But get a grip it was not dangerous. It was one footed the other was at ground level and not aimed at ball or player. It was late a foul and a yellow would have been sufficient. The player reaction and the likes of wiltshit running into the mêlée and pushing people convinced an official that don’t need much persuading to make decisions against us (don’t blame him tho).

Ade should not have made the challenge in the first place it was unnecessary, then their would be no debate.

        Was not dangerous tho.

I thought it warranted a red, whether the 1st minute or 91st.
Not saying Webb was swayed in any way, but it didn’t help that it was right in front of the arse supporters and it was an ex gunner. Imagine the reaction from the WHL crowd if S*L had done something similar. Matey staying down didn’t help the cause either.
The thing that makes me laugh is the time taken to get out the red, either Mr Webb was mulling over every detail of what he saw before coming to a balanced conclusion, or he was waiting for someone to say ‘Red card’ in his earpiece after seeing a replay,I know where my money would be.
(I personnaly, wouldn’t mind if this is the case, just wish they would be more honest about it)

Gutted today but not overly worried.arguably our best 2 Defenders to come back in and Scotty n dembele to come back in.it’ll be a new team come January (decent striker as well).give Carroll a run as well he,looks good 4 a young player.
    Keep the faith

I can handle losing NLD (JUST), i can handle losing 5-2 with ten men (JUST), but what i struggle with is players & Mgmt smiling and joking with the opposition when leaving the pitch after getting their arse kicked!

Yes, it’s only a game and we all move on etc etc…But, i never see United players joking about after a heavy defeat to their closest rivals. Does anyone remember Rooney having a joke with any city players after a humping? Or Sir Alex sharing a smile with any of their players? Of course not, why, their winners, and we’re not. It expectable for Tottenham to lose 5-2 two years on the trot and share a cuddle and a joke before and after the game…

So, In summary, while i’m not calling for AVB to be sacked i am stating that his management style is soft and its spreading through the team which i’d like to stop ASAP.

Could you imagine Graham Roberts, Roy Keane, Bryan Robson, sharing a laugh and a joke with their rivals?….No, of course not !!

You are so right, too much “business/”, way too little heart, this matters, and by this attitude you can see how much the employees care – , so they should all be treated as employees, and given an ultimatum, unfortunately, it wont work, but so sad to ser yes, and indeed why results wont come, our company and employees are happy at this level of performance

    • This is just silly. Professional footballers by and large have respect for each other. They are competitive on the pitch, but happy to acknowledge each others’ standard of play afterwards. Or would you rather that they hated each others’ guts, and beat each other up afterwards?

The animosity that some Arsenal supporters and some Spurs supporters have for the other club is ridulous, and well over the top. It’s rivalry FFS, not World War 3. These people are mercifully in the minority. I’m glad that so many people in this thread are able to acknowledge that the red card was justified; had an Arsenal player been red-carded for a similar act, I would have been happy to acknowledge that he deserved it.

I don’t doubt that Ade had a moment of madness, like he did when kicking van Persie in the head, but that doesn’t make him any the less culpable. He’s a good player; I admired him when playing, whether for Arsenal, Man City or Tottenham.

    • PeeLee says:

I know. It’s like all those boxers that get in the ring and shake hands with their opponent, ffs, rather than get stuck in as soon as they climb through the ropes. Friggin’ jessies, the lot of them. And all that huggin’ and reassurin’ each other when the final bell rings and the decision is announced. So what’s all the blood and sweat been about during the fight? I pay my money, it matters to me, so why doesn’t it matter to them? That’s what I want to know.

  • Bruxie says:

    It’s difficult to post.

    Of course it is.

I haven’t got to the blame stage, yet.

I do know that I was surprised. At the clever way we played in the first tenty minutes.

    It augers well.

I came away from watching that with a “Wait until we ar fit…” attitude.

    Don’t despair, fellow Yids.

We’ll annihilate them in the new year…they are trul crap.

    And we might have Walcott.

    Instead of Dempsey.

    Good night and good blogging…
