Good evening.

Time for us to focus our thoughts on what is a massive, massive game. The list of those we failed to replace, the injured and the retired is well documented. The victory against Maribor was welcome of course but needs to be appreciated in the context of – this was an unremarkable Maribor.

That said, it will create a feel good factor. That’s quite rightly how football works.

But how brave will the boss be against the Champions? My suspicion is that the answer is ‘not too brave.’ I don’t believe he’ll play Hugo and I don’t believe he’ll drop Walker and certainly not for Naughton. I believe that showing confidence in players cuts both ways and ‘that’ goal in the Naughton/Lloris fiasco shouldn’t be used as stick to beat either men with.

Carroll has to start. To dare is to naffin’ well do and I think he’s earned this. Against City I believe we need to play with a 3 in the midfield given the resources. Thud and Sandro isn’t enough. It will end up with Mr Beastly doing himself a mischief again. But more so it’s a case of we must be creative and the two Toms between them will give us a fighting chance.

Bale on the left, Azza Lemon on the right and for me it’s Adebayor to start. Do you drop your hat-trick man? The brave do. On the strength of the Europa game Ade is back or at least very close to being back in business. We miss Moussa horribly and between Carroll and Ade we can at least attempt to mend and make do.

I predict a 3-2 win.

Cheer up you miserable basts, we could have Mark Hughes, Martin O’Neill or Brendan Rodgers

    • LLL says:

Wouldn’t be surprised if Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool are above us in the table within a few weeks. Big Sam’s West Ham already are!!

  • LLL says:

AVB has a golden opportunity to win over the fans by beating Arsenal this weekend. As poor as we have been, they are all over the place and behind us in the league, so it is very possible with the right attitude and decision making. Then again, if we serve up another toothless, gutless performance it will sway yet more fans against him.

    • Harry Potspur says:

LLL no one values your opinion, you talk like you are 100% correct but the long and short of it is no ones true on this site.

All opinions (some woeful)that will not determine the potential out comings of the season.

We all need to be positive (regardless of your hatred for AVB. I think with the right acquisitions in Jan and the return of a few first team regulars, we will be right up there at the end.

I watched the match here in Jeddah, and really thought we could beat them before the game and during, and to be honest to my mind the main reason we lost was that we played a match on Thursday and the City Moneybags didn’t.Think we need to get Dembele back and hopefully players that AVB wants during the next window and we will be right up there at the end.All teams are leaking goals at the moment. We will be there top 4.

      • LLL says:

You mean you don’t, I would like to think you have at least proved yourself right when you say:

no ones true on this site.
        (sic)

Because some people don’t value my opinion. That’s OK – those people are idiots!

I don’t have any hatred of AVB, whatever gave you that opinion?

If Hot air and bullshit was Redknapps way,now it with much bigger thought put into the situation.
It doesnt make it better,at least not yet.
I have not seen us flow at all.Yes we have had injuries but we still have had a lot of our main players available to at least show that something is evolving to the positive. I havent seen that.
I dont think beating Arsenal will solve the problem.
Its something I hope we do but Id rather see the potential in the quality of play and Im afraid I havent seen it.
I have no axe to gring and have an open mind but so far not impressed and not sold on AVB in the slightest.
I havent seen anything that shows that the main thing he holds his hat on,his tactics,is offering anything special.
Excuses can only go so far.I still havent given up hope but how long can you wait to see potential evolving?
You would think that Dempsey being a bit of a fighter would fight his way out of this with some inspiration and ideas by the manager.
Im shocked at the way Lloris has been treated and as of the past game it looks like the negativity is getting to him.
Im giving AVB to the end of the season and hope that we start seeing some quality soon. But Im certainly not going to wear rose coloured glasses.I didnt with Harry and I wont with AVB.
he has an opportunity to do something at Tottenham,I hope it happens soon.

It’s not really the defeats that bother me too much-it’s the manner of them that I worry about. Last season, the same ground-same team-same result-but boy was the difference in my mood. I’d seen my side BATTLE back from a two goal deficit- to almost win the game-but eventually lose it by a rash tackle. Yesterday-Ouch! We had them, really had them-their crowd were whining (bit like ours I thought) and they were playing into our hands. Forget the injuries-these were the players on the field-and they were doing it-until Mancini makes a change and our manager didn’t have the nous to deal with it-I hope he learns-but we’re too narrow
right now-also by settling for a draw-you’re asking for trouble-and guess what-we found it!

get used to it,levy ain’t sacking AVB,europe is the clause in the contract and 4-7 is well within the grasp of this lot even if we look like total shite at the moment,

we are going round in circles with clappers and anti clappers, the football was exciting in the arry years no doubt about it but it’s not like we don’t remember spurs before that for years and years and we are still here, levy and arry split up we have to move on,

avb needs some more of his own buys, that is standard for us isn’t it,dawson and thudd were gone but are playing now,we fell short in the summer, messed up and the dempsey and sigg no show isn’t helping

personally i don’t see the point in getting on everybodys back when 4th is still in the mix, whether avb’s style of football is ever going to light up the lane is another matter altogether,it’s continental counter attack but i thought we’d have more keep ball possession myself but i’ll wait until at least dembele is playing let alone kaboom, parker and benny who at least have some character in them

just the goons up next,no pressure, good luck, will it be villas boas tactician or frank spencer clueless :-p

      Well said!

    • Boy Charioteer says:

When I saw MOTD I was struck by how much Man U wanted it. They have a desire to win which I can only dream of our lads having. Formations and tactics seems to come second in their overwhelming will to win. If only we could just take a little bit of their desire into a match. And you are right, we must wait till we get the THIRD of our missing team back before we look for people to blame.

      • kojac says:

it is a worry we don’t seem to be together, whatever people say about fergie he gets his teams wanting it,i don’t think they are particularly special, they bought van perv of course but they are still top and strolling the league

    • LLL says:

Fact of the matter is that no team will have an injury free squad at any point and all will have better and worse periods. Yes, we have some key injuries at the moment but this doesn’t fully explain the poor football we are playing and doesn’t offer any justification for the poor decisions AVB makes in almost every game.

Just saying, say what you see. It’s not just injuries, and anyone thinking that is deluding themselves. AVB needs to sharpen up.

      • essexian76 says:

Forget the injuries for now-this was about those on the park yesterday-and they were doing it forcing Man City into a reshuffle at half time-surely we’d have had a plan, an idea or just the bollocks to deal with it rather than sit back and wait for the inevitable? I an really perplexed right now as to what the plan is or is supposed to be.
I’ve seen some pretty shitty performances over the years believe me and this isn’t even in the top 100, but I honestly can’t see what we’re trying to achieve right now?-we were just asking to be beaten-and we did. To win games you have to ask questions of the opposition, surely?
What purpose was there in keeping Dempsey on and not replacing him with Siggy? OK, they’re both in poor form-but at least you’re asking the opposition to re-think, if only for a while, and maybe it could work out-rather than persisting with a player who’s clearly struggling and allowing the opposition to concentrate on their own play…..
….Mr Angry of Purely over and out

      • kojac says:

i agree and said we look like shite which we do,it doesn’t look like we are on the up curve to me in attitude and thinking as a team,it’s a worry,of course if we fall down to the bottom, levy will still sack avb, don’t doubt that

  • Darren says:

Where’s all the usual pro-AVB bullshit Harry?

Or have you finally realised he’s out of his depth?

    Do tell………
