Liverpool are preparing to submit a formal offer to RB Leipzig for winger Yan Diomande this week, according to writer Wilson Cox.

The 19-year-old Ivorian international has emerged as new boss Andoni Iraola’s top transfer priority ahead of the 2026/27 campaign at Anfield.

Cox states that talks between Liverpool and RB Leipzig have been progressing well, though PSG are also monitoring the situation closely.

Leipzig are expected to demand around £120m before sanctioning any departure for the highly rated teenager this summer.

Diomande produced remarkable numbers in the Bundesliga this season, completing an incredible 4.3 successful dribbles per 90, the highest tally of any player in the division.

Despite 2025/26 being his first full season in one of Europe’s top five leagues, Diomande created 2.1 chances per 90, placing him in the top 15% of all attackers across the continent.

He also contributed eight assists during the campaign, demonstrating he possesses the end product to complement his relentless directness and creativity.

The player himself is said to be willing to accept a proposal from Liverpool, making the prospect of a deal more straightforward if the clubs can agree a fee.

PSG winger Bradley Barcola has also been mentioned as a potential option, with the French club open to selling the 23-year-old for around £86m this summer.

However, Diomande remains Iraola’s primary target as the Spaniard looks to build his own formidable attacking unit at Anfield following his appointment to replace Arne Slot.

Liverpool’s need for forward reinforcements has intensified after Mohamed Salah confirmed his departure on a free transfer, ending an era that also included Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Iraola, known for his high-energy, forward-thinking football during his time at Bournemouth, is expected to demand dynamic wide players capable of thriving in his system.

Teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha is expected to have a senior role under the new manager and could form an electrifying partnership with Diomande should the transfer be completed.

The 17-year-old made 19 league appearances for Liverpool in 2025/26, scoring his first goal for the club off the bench in a victory against Newcastle United back in August.

Ngumoha’s form earned him recognition beyond club level, with England manager Thomas Tuchel calling him into the national squad ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

The teenager featured in the second half of Saturday’s victory against New Zealand, claiming the Player of the Match award in the process.

With Diomande’s ability to create chances in abundance, Ngumoha could be the primary beneficiary of the Leipzig winger’s defence-splitting passes at Anfield next season.

Securing Diomande’s signature would give Iraola two teenage talents capable of developing alongside one another and shaping Liverpool’s attack for the next decade.

The financial outlay of £120m is considerable, but Liverpool’s hierarchy appears determined to move quickly and avoid losing their top target to PSG.

If Iraola can land Diomande this week as reported, it would represent a significant statement of intent as he begins his Anfield tenure.
